A hint? A choice spot for Pawlenty (Sources say Romney not VP)

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been awarded a prime speaking slot at the Republican National Convention, joining at least five others at the St. Paul event who are considered potential running mates for Sen. John McCain.

Perhaps the most atypical convention speaker, and potential running mate, is Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman, who ran for vice president as a Democrat in 2000 and is now an independent and one of McCain's strongest supporters.

For Pawlenty, the speaking role on the climactic last night of the Sept. 1-4 convention caps months campaigning for McCain, raising his national profile and speculation about his selection as a potential vice-presidential choice.

It’s the Mitt I know. You must be living in an alternate universe.

While I think that Pawlenty is a much, much better choice than Romney, I wouldn’t make too much of this. Pawlenty is also governor of the state where the convention is being held. It would be really surprising if Pawlenty didn’t get a great speaking slot.

What are you referring to?

What mistakes has he made other than the socialized medicine thing that has been run into the ground (not unexpected) by Duvall Patrick.

Age, like race, if you are being honest, is a factor in this election. McCain is 72 and had a few really rough years in Vietnam. The American public want to know that there is someone standing by that is capable of stepping into the most powerful office in the world, and that is Mitt...not an unknown Minnesotan.

The article states that the VP selection will speak on the night of Sept. 3rd and that (coincidentally)Romney is scheduled to speak on the night of...Sept. 3rd.

It’s going to be Romney. I hope.

Something to ponder:

For the MSM, the 2012 election cycle begins in just 74 days.

Do you have a FR Romney alarm on your computer?

He has a ten alarm bell.

That’s the problem. You don’t know Slick Willard (or you do, and you’re quite happy to see him spread his liberal cancer wherever he goes).

I'd swear the guy has a crush on him or something.

Don't let Newt hear you talk like that. He would be devastated.

I’m referring to the con-man you’re pushing. The worst liberal RINO Governor in the country in the past decade. The Socialist, the pro-criminal, the perversion-supporter, the party-killer, the unrepentant liar, the briber, the cult of personality... He’s a perfect running mate for Obama. Bubba Clinton born into bucks.

(Oh, and I don’t want Pawlenty, either... He’s Slick Willard lite).

Like I said on the other thread Mitt is to the right of McQueeg. I do not see the same fervor against McQueeg by a few here on FR as I do against Mitt.

IMHO I think there is something deeper going on. I can only speculate as to what that might be.

I am an evangelical and plan to support whoever McCain picks (within reason, naturally, not Jane Fonda). I have posted on another thread that I believe McCain is an astute man who has his own internal polls and will decide on the person most likely to get him over 270 in November (within reason, naturally, not Jane Fonda).

I bet he will make different decisions based on what Obama does. Obama’s one pick will make him stronger here, his other pick will make him weaker there. . . McCain has the luxury of reacting. He’s in the power position.

McCain is playing it smart and I am so glad. I trust him to pick the right man/woman at the right time.

I’m not a fan of Juan, but it just isn’t true. If Slick Willard were in the Senate today, he’d have been voting with the likes of Chafee and Jeffords. Not even McCain veered that far to the left.

A little green is my worry, but she is quite preferable to Pawlenty and infinitely better than Slick Willard.
