A hint? A choice spot for Pawlenty (Sources say Romney not VP)
http://www.startribune.com ^ | August 22, 2008 | By PAT DOYLE

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been awarded a prime speaking slot at the Republican National Convention, joining at least five others at the St. Paul event who are considered potential running mates for Sen. John McCain.

Perhaps the most atypical convention speaker, and potential running mate, is Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman, who ran for vice president as a Democrat in 2000 and is now an independent and one of McCain's strongest supporters.

For Pawlenty, the speaking role on the climactic last night of the Sept. 1-4 convention caps months campaigning for McCain, raising his national profile and speculation about his selection as a potential vice-presidential choice.

Just thought I'd throw this in. McCain will make a smart not a political risky choice. He has over performed in this respect. He will not pick an also ran who may overshadow him. It would be stupid. Even though Sean Hannity seems to behave like a dog in love when Romney is mentioned. I'd swear the guy has a crush on him or something. It is embarrassing to listen to him go on and on. He would bring so much baggage. He'd be better as a surrogate. He also would make a good Senator from the NorthEast. Let him prove his conservatism with votes. Only then would I ever find voting for him easy. Romney will not enthuse evangelicals it will be like throwing away all that McCain gained at saddle back.

Pawlenty is still unimpressive and subpar. Not as bad as Slick Willard (who is ?), but still a “D” on the grade scale. He needs to go with Sanford, Carcieri or Barbour.

Oh, I see you saw the thread before I did.

Don Carcieri would be great. Mark Sanford and Haley Barbour are from safe GOP states. Also, there is some anti-southern sentiment in the northern tier states.

I know little about Pawlenty, although his interview with Glenn Beck was encouraging. I have since spoken with a Minnesotan I know (and who’s political instincts I mirror)...he is, sadly, quite underwhelmed as well.

Romney is by far the most capable, intelligent, experienced and prepared of those being mentioned.

To not go with him for personal reasons is just foolish.

Romney is also the only man who really can bring home or shore up certain states for McCain.

Obama is trying very hard to steal some Mountain West States like Colorado and Montana and that will not happen with Romney on the ticket. Nevada will also get moved into the sure thing column for us if Romney is mentioned.

If people use their brain and not emotions, there can be no wiser choice than Mitt Romney.

unimpressive and subpar

Exactly. An unimpressive subpar nobody who enhances nothing. SOmeone who in four years (or eight) will leave us in the lurch because he can't handle a national position like president. You can't groom him for anything. He's not an asset now and he will not become one over time. If God forbid McCain can't fulfill his duties ... this country is LOST!

Why not?

I disagree. I am with Hannity. I think that Mitt Romney was a better candidate (so was Fred Thompson, Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter - just to be fair) than McCain to begin with.

What is the rift between Mormons and Evangelicals? Both groups shave every morning and love Jesus...who cares if some are a little more dramatic about God and the others wear funny underwear...

The MSM does such a good job spinning Obama as a “Christian” when everyone and everything he does from the Rev. Wright to being a Muslim by birth...we get caught up in the moment.

Romney would have a tremendous chance at winning, post McCain and if the old fighter pilot died in offce (not wishing his demise, or Ted Kennedy’s, for that matter) we would have a strong leader, no skeletons, a very successful run as governor of Massachusetts, a super-successful businessman and Presidential-esque.

The MSM only rails at his perfect hairstyle...

I think Romney is a good pick as VP.

More talking points. Forget it, honey. No more liberals like Slick Willard. You can take him home and keep him in your basement if you want him. He’s probably not litter trained and will blame imaginary animals for the mess he’ll make.

People posting these articles are helping feed the media frenzy over whose going to be whose VP. It’s getting downright ridiculous.

This media hype/frenzy is exactly what Odumbo is looking for. Odumbo now has the nation holding it’s breath waiting on him with the help from his media empire.

Screw them all, I’m not playing this game. People don’t vote for VP.

Well, if the paid bots start mentioning Slick Willard, it’s close enough. He’s a perfect pick for the false Messiah.
