Digesting an Obama-Biden Ticket
National Review ^ | Aug. 22, 2008 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 08/22/2008 11:41:22 PM PDT by FocusNexus

It's hard for Obama supporters to play the age card any longer, as their potential veep is all of six years younger than McCain.

His mouth will be an absolute time bomb. Will he refer to Delaware as a "slave state" again? Will he discuss who's behind the counter at 7-11s?

I'm reminded of a Rudy Giuliani response when Biden took a shot at him - "Joe's a good guy, we all criticize each other during this time... But for Joe Biden to talk about qualifications - he's never run a city, he's never run a state, he's never run a business."

That statement is true for both men on the Democratic ticket.

One last thought before bed: Imagine McCain picking Gov. Bobby Jindal. First line at the debate, "Senator, before we begin our debate, let me clarify for you that I don't work at a 7-11."

Oh, that would be freaking sweet.

Pollster: Biden Not As Appealing To Voters As One Might Think

http://blogs.dw-world.de/acrossthepond/michael/1.6988.html

It comes via Jim Wooten at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: “If there’s a politician in America who matches Obama for arrogance, it’s Joe Biden.”

According to Silver, the veteran senator’s favorable/unfavorable ratings are almost even and his strong unfavorables exceed his strong favorables. On the upside, Biden scores with older people, a group of voters where Obama is weak, and could shore up Pennsylvania for the ticket. Silver’s verdict: Biden is not “quite as appealing to the electorate as the conventional wisdom seems to hold.”

A statesman known for slips of his tongue (Biden)

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0808/12735.html

This year, he managed to blow up his official announcement he was entering the race when he deemed Obama “the first mainstream African American [candidate] who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

While preparing for his own run at the party’s nomination last year, he took several shots at Obama’s inexperience, warning that “If the Democrats think we’re going to be able to nominate someone who can win without that person being able to table unimpeachable credentials on national security and foreign policy, I think we’re making a tragic mistake.”

Timeline of Biden's life and career

In the Senate since 1973 -- it will be hard for them to criticize McCain.

"Feb. 11, 1988 Undergoes successful surgery after two brain aneurysms are diagnosed." Hmmm -- I hope he is OK now.

Just read a lot of the posts over there. Now that it's "OFFICIAL" the retread heads at DU are telling everyone to just suck it up and take it regarding the text messages.

And the official kool-aid drinking party has started up.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to go scrub the inside of my skull out with steel wool to get the intellectual detrius that has been excreted into my frontal cortex by reading that site. UGH

Even moonbats notice there’s a problem when they’ve been crowing over their candidate’s opposition to a war and that candidate goes and picks a running mate who supports it.

Don’t you see, this is Obama’s brilliance, this way they can get both the pro-war and anti-war votes. Obama doesn’t have to flip-flop, it’s built into the ticket. (sarc)

Will he refer to Delaware as a "slave state" again?

Since he was speaking historically, this was actually accurate. Not only was DE a slave state, it was one of the only two states in which the 13th Amendment actually freed slaves, the other being KY. The other border states having already freed their slaves by state action.

By 1865 there were at most a few hundred slaves left in DE, but the legislature has the glorious distinction of voting down the emancipation of even those few.

National Review, First Take [Peter Robinson]

Before winning election to the Senate three-and-a-half decades ago—Biden ranks fourth in seniority among Democrats, sixth overall; how’s that for a fresh face?—Biden practiced law for three years. That’s it. Three years of fresh-out-of-law school practice represents the sum and total of Biden’s profession experience before joining the Senate.

Obama-Biden? A candidate with an astonishingly thin professional background—Community organizer? Desultory lecturer in law school?—has just named as his running mate a man whose principal professional achievement is to have perfected his skills as a gasbag.

Talk about a backward state (I’ve lived here for 34 years), Delaware had a whipping post well into the 60’s - 1960’s, that is.

"It was Biden’s son Beau Biden who had Larry Sinclair falsely imprisoned in Delaware."

Well now....IMHO, this should NOW make Larry a viable "topic" for some reporter to start "investigating".

It's really "interesting" that it was Joe's kid that "silenced" Larry for Obama.

Oops, I just plagiarized your post. :)

The fact that Obama thinks a repugnant egotist and professional liar like Biden adds gravitas to the ticket is troubling for a man who might be president. Even more troubling is that Biden seems to be pretty much the best the Dems can come up with.

The moonbats are liking the ticket. Here's one of their brilliant comments:

"Change suddenly makes a whole new kind of sense.
Intellect back in the White House? Could it happen? Yep, thanks to this ticket."

and:

"Biden headlined the college democrats convention and blew the doors off and of course we know what Obama did during the keynote. This is going to be a fun campaign to watch."

Perhaps Obama was more limited in his choice than is seemingly apparent...

Gov. Kaine and Sen. Bayh, and others, may have quietly indicated to Obama that they preferred not to run as VP - notably in view of Obama’s recent poor polling numbers, and the present security of the elected offices they now hold.

Yep, McCain is one lucky AHole to face Obama al Biden.
I also think Obama was more limited in his choice than is seemingly apparent, he kept floating names until he got himself into a corner and had no good options. This VP selection process has been a harbinger of just how badly an Obama Admin would react to any and all national emergencies. The BO ticket has got to make a lot of voters increasingly uneasy about the key responsibility of the Federal Gubs...National Security.
