In case you missed it with the Olympics going on, Russia invading Georgia, and the campaign for president in full swing, pop star Madonna started her much-awaited tour in Wales Saturday.
Amidst the requisite autoerotic writhing and gyrating, Madonna managed to bash John McCain -- actually equating him to Adolf Hitler and Robert Mugabe! -- while comparing Barack Obama to Mahatma Gandhi.
I kid you not.

As Madonna kicked off her international "Sticky and Sweet" tour Saturday night, she took a none-too subtle swipe at the presumptive Republican nominee for U.S. president.
Amid a four-act show at Cardiff's packed Millennium Stadium, a video interlude carried images of destruction, global warming, Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, Zimbabwe's authoritarian President Robert Mugabe — and U.S. Senator John McCain. Another sequence, shown later, pictured slain Beatle John Lennon, followed by climate activist Al Gore, Mahatma Gandhi and finally McCain's Democratic rival Barack Obama.

It carried the usual Madonna fixtures: sequins, fishnets, and bondage-style outfits drawn from the 3,500 items of clothing reportedly whipped together by 36 designers specifically for the "Sticky and Sweet" tour. Promoters promised a "rock-driven danstastic journey" supported by a traveling crew of 250 — including a chiropractor, personal trainer and a masseuse. The show itself includes eight costume changes, 16 dancers, and $1.85 million worth of Swarovski crystals. [...]
However, others wondered at the singer's carbon footprint, questioning the amount of carbon dioxide pumped out by ferrying Madonna's wardrobe, makeup, and freezers (for ice to soothe the dancers' aching feet) across the world.

I shouldn’t get upset about this crap, but I do. John McCain fought for his country, suffered horrible wounds at the hands of the enemy, and still managed to show great courage and conviction.

That’s it, I just had my mind made up as to who I will vote for. I couldn’t have done it without her help, after all she is a political, economical and strategic genius who is most certainly on the same level as Streisand.

No surprise here. What else would we expect from an elitist screwball “celebrity?” McCain could gain some mileage from this sort of thing. Make some ads or talk on the campaign trail about how the Hollywood/show business America bashing elite trash him while boosting Obama. Their values are not the values of real America.
