President's Office: Russia preparing to revenge in Ukraine

The Presidential Secretariat blames Russia for its attempts to stir up activities of anti-Ukrainian forces in Ukraine.

This is said in the comments of President’s deputy chief of staff Andriy Kyslynskiy, publicized by the President’s press-office.

A.Kyslynskiy noted that Russian political circles have been actively trying to revive the scales of interference into eleciton campaigns unmatched since the year 2004.

“Today Russian political circles are creating an organzational basis for a revenge of political forces and ideas that lost four years ago. The same took place in 2004, when a so-called Russian Club was operating in Ukraine and was a source of anti-Ukrainian statements. It also organized numerous provocations against presidential candidate Victor Yushchenko.

On September 4-6, they plan to hold a measure that is due to become a kind of defile of anti-Ukrainian figures and positions during September 4-6.

“Ukraine-Russia: Problem Pages of Common History” conference is being organized by a so-called Humanitarian Ukrainian-Russian Council, 2000 and Izvestiya newspapers, at the expense of a Russian Federation State Program of Assistance to Compatriots Abroad. There is no secret that this program is directly connected with the RF Foreign Reconnaissance Service”, A.Kyslynskiy claimed.

In line with working documents of the conference, it is planned to discuss rather provocative topics: estimation of “hunger in USSR”, “revision of results of the World War II”, “problem issues of teaching common Ukrainian-Russian history in educational establishments”.

“Considering the systematic character of acitvities of the Russian circles supporting the “fifth column” in Ukraine, this conference is a challenge to all national-democratic forces”, A.Kyslynskiy claimed.

Poles know exactly how all of this goes. We saw it in 1939 with Danzig and the Polish Corridor, only this time it’s Sevastopol and Crimea.

There's a large Orthodox Russian speaking population in Ukraine's east. The west is largely Catholic and Ukrainian speaking. So there's a linguistic and religious divide Moscow hopes to leverage to keep Ukraine out of NATO.

Correct me if I’m wrong please.

From what I gather, while Russia had the soviet Union going for them, they sent a whole lot of “Russians” to live in these satellite “states” like Ukraine and Georgia.
Now that these states are once again independent they still have enclaves or (counties) with very large “Russian” populations Russia feels responsible to protect?
So Russia is using this to invade an independent state and impose its will?
Maybe I’m wrong. Please tell me?

Ukrainians are not Catholic; they are Eastern Orthodox and were baptized by the Byzantines when the Russians were still living in wooden huts.

It is true that Stalin "seeded" western Ukraine with Russians, but they are not Russian anymore. Today, 8/24 is the anniversary of partition from Russia in 1991.

Ukrainians are Ukrainian. They have recovered their religion (spassibo bolshoi Svetoi Mikhail) and their national identity. The average Ukrainian is doing very much better economicaly, socially, and has more opportunity than any Russian who is not a pal of Vladimir Putin's.

They want nothing to do with Russians or Russia.

Not many people are aware that the Ukraine had an active nationalist guerrilla movement against the Soviets that continued for several years after World War 2.
These guerrillas, after fighting the Germans, turned on the Red Army. It was Ukrainian guerrillas that ambushed the Commander in Chief of the 1st Ukrainian Front General Vatutin in 1944 causing his death. A brave people indeed

I hope you aren't referring to the UPA. They hated Poles even more than the Soviets.

What's happening?

They have been unmasked. Never changed. Just ask all those Western Investors that got raped in Russia. Right now Oil Production in Russia has been falling for quite a few months. The Russian Siloviki (Old KGB drunks) make their money from Oil production. Since oil production is falling and western investment is falling and birth rates are falling, only choice for Siloviki to continue being treated as Czars is medieval conquer and conquest.

You're got the motivation for Siloviki support down pat. Good analysis.
