“Help me out here, Madam Speaker” ( “I don't think anybody can tell you when life begins” )
California Catholic Daily ^ | August 25, 2008 | staff

Posted on 08/25/2008 7:50:09 AM PDT by kellynla

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, described herself yesterday morning on NBC’s Meet the Press as “an ardent, practicing Catholic,” then told moderator Tom Brokaw and an audience of millions that Church teaching on when human life begins is unclear.

Besides, said Pelosi, even if life does begin at conception, that would not change her pro-abortion views. “The point is, is that it shouldn't have an impact on the woman's right to choose,” she said. “Roe v. Wade talks about very clear definitions of when the child -- first trimester, certain considerations; second trimester; not so third trimester. There's very clear distinctions. This isn't about abortion on demand, it's about a careful, careful consideration of all factors and – to -- that a woman has to make with her doctor and her god.”

Brokaw was quizzing the Speaker on Sen. Barack Obama’s response last week to Pastor Rick Warren’s straightforward question at the Saddleback Forum, “At what point does a baby get human rights, in your view?”

Asked Brokaw, “Senator Obama saying the question of when life begins is above his pay grade, whether you're looking at it scientifically or theologically. If he were to come to you and say, ‘Help me out here, Madam Speaker. When does life begin?’ what would you tell him?”

Here is Pelosi’s response: “I would say that as an ardent, practicing Catholic, this is an issue that I have studied for a long time. And what I know is, over the centuries, the doctors of the church have not been able to make that definition. And Senator -- St. Augustine said at three months. We don't know... And so I don't think anybody can tell you when life begins, human life begins.

Pelosi,“an ardent, practicing Catholic?”
:::::::::
Hmmm. Whatever that really means, other than a miserable attempt at pandering to the Catholic vote. And I think the Kennedys are “ardent practicing Catholics” too. Just ask people like Mary Jo and Norma Jean — if they were still around....yes, they did alot of practicing.

I don't ever recall hearing about the Immaculate Unviable Tissue Mass in church.

Science knows absolutely how life began and how man is ruining the climate but has no clue as to when life begins.

It is a philosphical question. In some nations they are pushing for terminating a baby up to the first 2 years (if there are birth defects, etc.).

Every chile’ a wanted child. < /s >

Liberals are mean.

“that Church teaching on when human life begins is unclear”

Assuming this is true, where does it say it is OK to kill the baby.

Hey, Pelosi,

if you see some movement in the brush, is it moral to shoot at it when you don’t know if it’s a person or not?

**Pelosi,“an ardent, practicing Catholic?”**

Pelosi is a CINO who has excommunicated herself from the Catholic Church by supporting abortion. If she were a REAL Catholic she would have quoted the following to Brokaw.

I’m not a Catholic, but from what I do know, the Church is pretty clear on when life begins, and has publicly stated on several occasions.

And Nancy says even if life begins at conception, then she’s still in favor of abortion. Hmmm...taking a human life after it has begun. Somehow in Nancy’s mind this is not murder. What a truly stupid, twisted person.

I would love to know how “Catholic” pro-choice politicians who speak and vote pro-abortion are not automatically excommunicated. It is scandalous to the Church AND perhaps leads weak-minded Catholics astray (i.e., if Nancy Pelosi can feel that way, then so can I).

Pelosi outright lied about what she knows is Catholic teaching.

She state, “I’ve studied all of the Church Fathers and even Augustin thought life began at 3 months, but he wasn’t sure...thus, this has always been a controversey in the Catholic Church.”

LOL, what a liar. There is not controversey in the Catholic Church on the evil and grave sin of abortion.

If her definition is correct, then I am the Pope.

Ergo, since I am NOT the Pope; she is a liar. QED

Pelosi is a perfected noodlebrain.
The Roman Catholic church, of which she is an ardent member, is bitterly opposed to contraception (and abortion)and has been so for more than 50 yrs. “Family planning and all that” are of special concern to Rome. They welcome ALL to the banquet table of life.
How is it that there are so many people in our great country who are bamboozled by frauds and liars like Pelosi?

If it isn’t a baby at 6 months, what is the “thing” when it is put on life support outside of the womb (either from an induced early delivery or saving the baby when the mother is dead from a car accident or murder, etc.)?

And if the threshold is going to “viablity”, then that comes at like a year or two. Until they they will not be mobile enough to seek out food on their own.

When you examine the pedigree of their ideas, what you come to understand is that the abortion issue is one of the keystones to devaluing human life. This is something that is implicit in the ideology of the Left; it’s cast into their philosophical DNA.

Humans are things.

That the essence of it. Humans are fungible and ultimately disposable “assets”.

This is why you’ve got the likes of Margaret Sanger and Dr. Peter Singer doing their damndest to move the goalposts when it comes to defining life and humanity. Singer, for example, has argued that infants up to 28 months old don’t really have any cognitive ability that defines them as human. So it’s OK to ‘terminate’ them if the parent (or really, the State) so chooses.

Who lives, who dies. That’s the power they seek. They are all monsters, monsters from the deepest dark heart of of our existence and history is replete with the outcomes and the evidence of their sick Utopian ideas.

History also tells us what we must do to deal with them. As does my tagline.
