John Edwards calling former staffers asking for forgiveness
NY DAILY NEWS ^ | August 25th 2008 | THOMAS M. DeFRANK

DENVER - John Edwards is burning up the phone lines, begging former aides and backers to forgive him for lying about his affair - but hearing their rage instead.

As Democrats kick off their convention Monday, the onetime presidential contender is a man without a party - or a political future - trying to rebuild bridges through dozens of remorseful phone calls.

It's proving a hard sell with onetime true believers.

The Silky Pony was the VP nominee there just four years ago. Guess the DNC delegates don't want to be reminded of that fact.

He should be able to win over the Democrats: they are very forgiving . . . of other socialists.

Before everyone starts dancing on Edwards’ political grave—

Once the election is over and all the ‘facts’ are known about who’s the daddy, Edwards will be brought back into the fold (slowly). He’ll be humble for a bit and do good things for the dems to get back into their good graces. It will work, too. This is the dems we’re talking about.

This welcoming back to the fold will be expedited if (God forbid) Elizabeth dies. The widower would be brought back that much sooner.

Hey, call me cynical. lol

My favorite part is where they moan about the fact that he’s losing speaking gigs. Wake up! The man’s a millionaire already. He doesn’t need that money, he needs the ego stroking that goes with the speaking. Nothing more.

It isn't like a drunken Edwards ran off a bridge and his girlfriend drowned.

Oh wait, That guy will speak and be honored later tonight in Denver.

Whatever happened to Gary Hartpence? He seemed to drop off the face of the earth back in 1988. Whatever cave he climbed into, he ought to make room for the Breck Girl.

My suggestion for him would be to convert to Republican, and run on an anti-abortion platform. It’s his best chance.

Yeah, there was a headline saying that Kennedy secretly arrived in Denver. All I could think was that the last place he secretly left was poor Mary Jo underwater all those years ago.

Oh, Gary’s around:

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nation/bal-conv0825,0,7896357.story

Apparently, a meeting of moonba-Democrat Party “leaders” was held, and this was what Donna Rice’s former loverboy said:

“Hart used his remarks to outline three things that he said Obama needed to emphasize to capture the presidency: rebuilding the economy and moving it past its reliance on fossil fuels; restoring voters’ faith in the Democratic Party’s ability to be strong on national security; and recapturing the nation’s “moral authority” in the eyes of the world.”

Good luck with that.

Good post, but "left his girlfriend to drown, although he was a good swimmer" would be more complete.
