Tears streaming down her face, she is confronted by police - a teenage girl apparently planning to blow herself up in front of an Iraqi school.
The officers handcuffed her to a metal balustrade before moving in with extreme caution to uncover a vest full of explosives hidden under her colourful robe.
The dramatic scenes were captured on a video shot by the police.

an unmotivated outfit with low morale doesn’t undertake a high risk operation like defusing a live suicide bomber. I see this as a real positive sign that they’re taking control of their own country.

I thought so too, when I first glanced at the policemen I assumed the incident was in Israel or somewhere, the cops are smartly dressed, calmly handling the situation and treating the girl with humanity. The easiest thing for them to have done was to have shot her dead instantly (I imagine that’s what most western police forces would do), but instead they risk their own lives to take her alive and then interrogate her.
These Iraqi policemen certainly don’t appear to be the uniformed thugs, hoodlums and gang members that the media have been portraying in the media for the past four years.
Did it make the 6 o’clock news on Al Jeezera? Doubt it.

I’m so sick of Bush bashing. He has done a great job taking on people who would destroy us and many of the very people he protected are trashing him for doing so. In their rabid quest for power this is what it’s come to. Sickening.

I was going to post a funny picture, but after thinking about it, I can only feel sadness for this teenage girl and anger at those beasts who put her up to it.
A 15 year old girl. A Down’s Syndrome teen. Dead bodies filled with explosives set off as relatives try to identify the bodies.
These people we are fighting are subhuman. I read an article recently that spoke to the “humanity” of our foes, and how we do them a disservice by dehumanizing them.
Screw that. They can all rot in hell with their 72 crab infested virgins, and I am going to feel happy as the day I was born that my tax dollars are helping to get them there.
God help this poor little girl - I don’t know her circumstances, but this child needs to know love from someone, somewhere...
The animals who put her up to this should burn in hell; may she find comfort in a safe and loving home.
Even contemplating leaving is demented, sick, selfish and cruel.
I cannot imagine these women letting the men use them and their children as cannon fodder and never say a word. You want them dead, you do it. They would soon run out of volunteers.
They disarmed her. But we let a pizza delivery man (who was also fitted with an explosive vest against his will) blow himself up. Why couldn’t we disarm the pizza guy? Remember him?
The police in Iraq are fighting for survival; the police in the U.S. are fighting for retirement and a pension.
