Records: Casey Anthony wanted to put Caylee up for adoption

(NECN/WFTV) - Court documents show 22-year-old Casey Anthony, the mother of missing Florida toddler, Caylee Anthony, wanted to give the girl up for adoption before she was born.

Documents released by prosecutors Monday show Casey Anthony's mother insisted that she keep the child. Three-year-old Caylee has been missing since June.

The documents show a manager at the wrecker yard where the Anthony's car was towed told detectives it smelled like another car once stored on the lot, in which a man committed suicide.

Cindy Anthony told detectives she removed a kitchen knife, Caylee's backpack and a baby doll from the car and it had a strong unidentifiable odor.

Casey insisted she did not hard her daughter, but admitted that she purposely misled investigators.

Documents show those investigators got tough with Casey to get her to tell the truth.

Hours before her arrest, one detective told her Caylee is "out there somewhere and her rotting body is starting to decompose."

Casey said "I know my mom will never forgive me. I'm never gonna forgive myself because there's that chance that I might not see Caylee again and I don't want to think about that."

The documents also revealed that Casey Anthony's mother called her a sociopath and warned friends to stay away from her.

Investigators say Casey continues to hold back information.

The grandmother should have let her give the kid up for adoption if she knew she had emotional problems. It’s horrible.

Hindsight is 20.20 I know. But her first instinct was to put her baby up for adoption. She was too young, too immature to raise her baby, and adoption would have been a good thing for her to have done.

It’s sad that she was talked out of adoption because clearly she wasn’t a good mother.

I never heard about the kitchen knife in the car or her quote about, “my mom will never forgive me” before either.

There’s no hard evidence here. This is not real news. We’re waiting to see the results of lab results that will impact the case. It’s not here though.

You know I think that little girl’s grandmother may not be as deluded as she acts. At first she was the one who called the police and was frantic about the girl’s disappearance and said the car smelled like a dead body. Only later did she start publicly defending her daughter. Maybe she doesn’t really think the daughter is innocent at all. I think she may be trying to be the “good cop” and get her daughter to tell her what happened because she still hopes the granddaughter may be alive somewhere and able to be rescued.

Some family could have had a beautiful child. If the mother
knew about her daughter, she’s was stupid for insisting that
she keep the baby.

Maybe, but I thought it was interesting that the grandmother was the one who called the police and got her daughter arrested in the first place, and only started defending her and making up stupid stories about stale pizza later after the trail seemed to be cold. Maybe she’s trying to coax her daughter into thinking she’s on her side. I might do that if I had a daughter I thought was a sociopath and feared for my granddaughter’s life.

Or maybe grandma is a psycho too, I guess these things do run in families sometimes. Sad story.

I missed that the first time through, because I was shocked at Casey’s quote.

It’s not uncommon for a pregnant teenager to start the adoption process and to back out of it, but it certainly doesn’t add any thing positive to her case.

Do you think with the tropical storm and the DNC going on, the police are going to slowly let things trickle out in order to twist the screws a little more?

Yesterday I posted an article about Nebraska’s new safe haven law that permits parents to abandon unwanted children at hospital at any age.

I though it was silly yesterday, but now I wonder if it might be better.

Perhaps she did give her up for “adoption” and just gave her away. The bounty hunter maintains he’ll have Caycee located by Friday.

I thought the phone call to 911 sounded a little rehearsed and not very convincing....... Maybe she’s trying to coax her daughter into thinking she’s on her side.

Yes, probably, but the cops have apparently already determined that the little girl is dead and disposed of. They most assuredly have told the grandparents as much, especially seeing that George is a retired cop. I guess these things do run in families sometimes.

Oh yeah, I know all about it..............;^)

They would prefer not to release anything at all, but the Orlando Slantinel (!) filed a request for information. That's how all this stuff was revealed in the first place.

Slightly off-topic, but 19?? 18 year olds are legally adults and kicked out of the foster care system. Seems like an arbitrary number. I’m generally in favor of safe haven laws (our IL one is dumb and doesn’t include churches), but if you are old enough to vote and join the military I don’t think you should be considered “a child.”

Casey's lies are coming to the surface quickly. Those friends Casey had been associating with during June and July immediately contacted the police. From the written interviews, all, including the boyfriend, seemed shocked to learn that Casey had kept the information hidden so well. Several said they knew she had a history of lying though.

Even during the interview with police when she took them to Universal insisting she had an office, then had to stop and admit she didn't work there, she was still lying about other things. They confronted her asking how lying about an office and job was helping them find Caylee - she kept saying things about familiar places and they asked her if she thought a three year old was going to take a cab to Universal to a non-existant office? She finally said her lying didn't help.

Then, during the same interview, she bragged about having some kind of certificate in Event planning from Valencia College - told friends she had an associates degree from Valencia - but Valencia says she never went there at all.

Casey even fabricated emails from an "employer" so her family would think she had to work certain days.

Unfortunately she probably is dead and gone, but with a mother so unstable, she could also have sold the child to a pedophile or left her in a park or something and there’s a chance she might still be rescued. It seems slim, but it is human nature to clutch at slim chances. If they find the body, we will see if Grandma continues trying to defend her daughter or drops her like a rock, I guess. I hope they will find her alive and find someone to give her a better life, but I have to agree it seems pretty doubtful at this point.

Time to waterboard the mother and get the truth out.

I'm sick of the whole cast of characters involved in this case including Greta and Grace and the rest of the slavering vultures feeding off this case.

The investigators are probably as frustrated as we are in this bizarre case. Being up against a psycho mother, a dearth of clues/forensic evidence plus an impatient media and public is not easy.

However, I'm sure they, like I, are convinced that the child is dead by the mother's hand. But sending her home with the ankle bracelet and confinement to the house serves only to allow her to further refine her stonewalling act and to get public sympathy and is not productive at all. Throw her in solitary at Gitmo.

This evil mother is the tearful Susan Smith all over again.

In my experience, many of these mentally unstable people are extremely manipulative. Truly sick, yes. But poor, weak, unprotected little innocents, absolutely not. Maybe this woman needs to be treated for her mental illness, but she should not be out free. She’s intelligent and cunning.

So many bad decisions were made.

First of all there was an unplanned and unwanted pregnancy by an irresponsible and promiscuous young woman with presumably a background of mental illness and instability with a sperm donor who has never to this day come forward to take any responsibility or interest in the fate of his child.

If it is true that Casey Anthony really wanted to place her child up for adoption, it might have been the only responsible thought that ever crossed her selfish and otherwise vacant mind.

And if it is true that her mother insisted that she keep the child, then she should have taken the responsibility of taking care of the child. But then again, she did such a great job of raising Casey.

Selfish people making selfish decisions without accepting responsibility.

Now Casey’s parents are aiding and abetting their daughter’s obstruction of justice.

Sadly a beautiful and innocent little child is probably dead and this “family” continues to spin and spin and spin. It’s sickening to me.

If Caylee had been adopted by caring and loving parents who really wanted a child, she’d be alive and well and happy today.

If only the Mom had not insisted that Casey keep that baby. There are so many people out there waiting to adopt. I think that if the mother has any inkling that they would like to go the adoption route with an unplanned baby, they should be supported in it. There is no shame in giving your child the best life you can. These days it does NOT mean you will never know where your child ended up. Clearly Casey was not mother material.

First of all let me say I’m very sorry for the loss of your father.

And you are absolutely right, “there is NOTHING that smells like decomp.”

I once accidentally left a half eaten lunch in my car for several days during the hottest of summer months and living in Maryland I know the smell of crab shells left in a garbage can for several days. They didn’t smell so good but it was in no way comparable to the unmistakable stench of death.

A few years ago, a rather large possum crawled under the crawl space under my kitchen and I will never forget that very unique stench. It in no way smelled like rotting food and you are right in that her dad a cop has to know what the smell of a dead being body smells like.
