It is well known that MoveOn.org published an anti-Catholic hate cartoon that showed Pope Benedict with a gavel in front of the U.S. Supreme Court (http://www.stentorian.com/MoveOn). William McGurns Democrats Made No Room on Abortion (Wall Street Journal, August 26, 2008 page A19) reports, however, that the 1992 Democratic National Convention featured buttons featuring the governor [Pennsylvania's Robert Casey Sr.] as pope. A Google search found the button in question at Why Democrats Are Blue, (http://whydemocratsblue.com/excerpt/) and it clearly uses the Pope in a This is the Enemy context.
How can the Democratic Party be anti-Catholic when prominent Democrats have names like Kennedy, Pelosi, and Kanjorski? How the Election of 1968 Reshaped the Democratic Party by Ted Van Dyk (Wall Street Journal, August 23 2008, page A11) reports,
Since 1968, independent and on-the-fence voters have come to perceive that there are, in fact, two Democratic Parties represented by two kinds of candidates. There is the middle-income, middle-minded, socially more conservative, bread-and-butter Democratic Party. Then, there is the better-educated, higher-income, socially liberal Democratic Party.
The former is what we call the Joe Magarac Democratic Party, after the folk figure who represents the steel industry and the blue collar workers who make it work. The latter is the MoveOn.org wing of the party, and we remind Democrats that MoveOn.org claims to have bought the Democratic Party...
Here is MoveOn.orgs anti-Catholic hate picture...
Casey as the Pope
Catholic voters should realize that this button was displayed at the 1992 Democratic National Convention, and apparently the party did not tell its wearers or distributors that it was as offensive as, for example, the use of blackface or exaggerated Semitic features in a derogatory context.

The real question is why do Catholics put up with it and continue to support the Dims?
Is it stupidity, or a simple lack of faith?
They, the Dims, love shooting themselves square in the middle of the foot.

Please freepmail me if you want on/off this list
That’s the first I saw of the poster. Do you know when it was first circulated and who published it in their papers? Or was it just a web picture?
“Is it stupidity, or a simple lack of faith?”
Whom Satan would deceive, he first blinds.
It’s obvious why the left hates the Church - holding the line on abortion, homosexuality, contraception, promiscuity, adultery, women clerics...
The only explanation I can find for Catholics who side with these loathsome creatures is that their thinking is impaired by Satan.
The MoveOn.org image was, I think, a Web image. The Casey image was on a button that actually circulated at the 1992 DNC.
It doesn't seem to be one of their efforts but rather a contribution to the chat. It was pulled.
I think they are scum but I can't lay this at their feet anymore than something pulled from here.

WOW ! IT’S ABOUT TIME, WHO WOKE UP THE CATHOLICS?
Catholics are NOT putting up with it. Haven’t you seen all the statements about Pelosi’s interpretation of Cafeteria Catholicism? The Bishops and Cardinals and the Pope are speaking out.
Of course, the greatest thing is who you're loved by.
Is it stupidity, or a simple lack of faith?
The same can be asked of Americans.
Why do Americans put up with it and continue to support the Dims?
Is it stupidity, or a simple lack of faith?
You see my friend, not every Catholic has a clue what it is to be Catholic.
