I'm confident enough to put this up now, but willing to be wrong.
Right now though, every sign, signal, and background chatter indicates John McCain will pick Tim Pawlenty, Minnesota's governor, as his running mate.
UPDATE: A source close to the campaign now confirms for me that it "more likely than not" is Pawlenty. He does, however, caution me that the campaign does not actually want to leak tonight lest the Obama camp get too much of a chance to play the victim card with a sympathetic media.

Strong supporter of school choice.
People who post on sites like that (and here) are extreme parisans...alot of moderate dems will vote for McCain. As long as he keeps being who he is.
So he's like McCain, which makes the choice explainable.
Not as bad a pick for him as Biden for Obama, but Biden at least has energy. Does Pawlenty?
Doesn't hurt McCain because those already supporting him despite protestations they'll stay home without a real conservative as VP are full of hot air. They said they wouldn't support McCain, and they caved. Won't help him because Pawlenty's probably not exciting enough to appeal to the Dem women and not conservative enough to get those still holding out onboard. Safe pick in line with McCain's own values that maintains the status quo. If this is true, McCain must be confident he can remain competitive and doesn't need an added edge.
Better add that Pawlenty is a rock ribbed supporter of sportsmen ( hunting and fishing ).
I disagree. Jindal has refused and doesn’t want to go anywhere. Palin has not and does want the position. And aside from someone like Marsha Blackburn, she’s the only possible pro-life conservative woman that he could pick. If he picks a woman, it would pretty much have to be Palin.
While Palin hasn’t been in the Gov’s office that long, she has many more years of executive experience than Jindal. I would not put her on the ‘no’ list at all. Especially since there are some mumbles that RNC sources have said off the record that the pick is a female. KBH took herself out earlier.
That leaves Whitman (totally inexperienced, pro-abort), Palin, Blackburn, that Italian chick that’s on the poll up above and someone else we haven’t thought of yet.
Out of those choices I bet Palin.
You Romney supporters are so cute when you pretend to be conservative.
Mitt Romney couldn't lock up MI if you gave him the master key.
Then Pawlenty is truly a very ugly woman, IMHO.
Yeah, he is totally guilty.
Many PUMAs will not vote for anyone in the Presidential election. Some will vote for Obama and some will vote for McCain. One website can not possibly speak for all PUMAs.
“She would be a great choice - pro-life, pro-energy, a fiscal conservative, etc..”
However, both her and Pawlenty are NOT solid in the stand against the homosexual agenda. However, that being said, I would still prefer Pawlenty or Her over Romney.
“You have a stronger stomach than I.”
Apparantly my hypocracy knows no bounds.
It was truly bad enough when Rudy dressed in drag!
Obama is such an inferior candidate, only McCain can make McCain lose, and I hope he picks a strong pro-lifer.
why? why? why? i whole-heartedly disagree... a woman on the ticket would surely lead to an Obama presidency...
“However, that being said, I would still prefer Pawlenty or Her over Romney.”
I would, too. While Romney is better than Lieberman, Charlie Crist or Ridge, I’m not sure if Romney is solid enough on the life issue.
Basically, yup. A clod in the bottom echelon of our current Governors. He wouldn’t have won reelection had the bubble-headed RINO apostate that Pawlenty’s Dem opponent chose as a running mate hadn’t opened her mouth.
please, NO! not yet... not this time around...
None of those four, I hope. Maybe it’s deliberate that McCain would want an unaccomplished non-entity who doesn’t overshadow him. In which case, we’re probably going to get someone really crappy.
Yeah, but that’s like taking home a serious date to meet the parents, and they’ve been informed he’s done a stint in prison, but instead of being a multiple-murderer, he only robbed a bank and permanently crippled a guard. :-\
Great point. And indeed we do.
Not destructive enough for ya ? You want the WHOLE ultimate trojan horse rodent.
Romney is a drug that takes the sycophant on a Magical Mystery Tour and causes them to actually believe that Flip is a conservative. Yup, they believe that with their whole mind, body and soul.
Hopefully nObama does not find out what the formulation for that drug is because these same folks will be spewing the conservative virtues of nObama if he does.
Hoping it ain’t him. I’m not convinced yet.
Dude - my friend and very worthy adversary :) = you can’t be happy with Pawlenty = are you?

All because he wanted to get to have a long lunch at...

Hope the steak was worth it, Slick Willard.
Not true, I don't know anyone here who's from Paris!
Ignore them...
We would have lost with TWO old rich white guys...
Especially Romney born with a silver spoon in his mouth...
Obama is given a speech to combat Romney...
Its more of the poor humble beginnings...American Dream..hard work led to success story...
Pawlenty comes from regular working folk...
And is YOUNG...47
Pawlenty was born on November 27, 1960, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and raised in nearby South St. Paul, one of five children of a milk truck driver and a housewife.[2] When he was 16, his mother died of cancer. Pawlenty took to hockey and played on his high school’s junior varsity squad.[3]
In 1983, Pawlenty received a degree in Political Science at the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts.[4] In 1986, he graduated with a law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School.[5] In law school, he met fellow student Mary Anderson and one year later they married, settling in Eagan, Minnesota.
As a practicing attorney, Pawlenty’s first job was as a labor law attorney at the firm Rider Bennett, where he had interned during school.[6] Later he was Vice President for the internet company Wizmo Consulting Group.[7]
In 1994, his wife Mary was appointed as a judge of the Dakota County District Court in Hastings, Minnesota and the two began raising their two daughters, Anna and Mara. After he was elected in 2002, the family remained at their Eagan home instead of moving into the Governor’s Residence because of Mary’s requirement to stay in her judicial district.[8] In 2007, she left her judicial position to become General Counsel of the National Arbitration Forum, a dispute resolution company based in Minneapolis.[9] She stayed on only briefly before departing for another dispute resolution company, the Gilbert Mediation Center.[10]
Of Polish and German heritage, Pawlenty was raised a Roman Catholic. His conversion to an Evangelical Christian faith is largely attributed to his wife Mary, who is a regular member of Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.[11] The church is part of the Minnesota Baptist Conference, and the senior pastor, Leith Anderson, is the president of the National Association of Evangelicals.[12][1]
Wiki
what if it were J-Lo instead of Palin?
Check post #79 for my opinion on that. Always remember that I judge ALL those with “R’s” with the same ruler. They’ve either succeeded, or they’ve failed.
The judge in the picture you posted looks a lot like the woman who was counting the roll call votes at the Dem convention last night.
Well, Sean Hannity did tell me that it’s 100% corn fed beef cooked in a 1500 degree oven. That’s a lot to pass up.
Hot wife. Bad Governor.
Two for the price of one.
Now who said that before? ;-) LOL!
It’s a small world and Lord knows that the Dems give promotions to people like her, so it could have been her. Never know...
Killer steak.
How about a VPILF?
I just got an SMS from my usually reliable source, why, he’s right there where it counts, and he says that Paul Enty was promised a Cabinet position if he would play the game today, which he did, but the real nominee will be... well, I can’t say just yet, or my source won’t let me date his former girlfriend, all I can say is that a couple of posters here guessed correctly.
Nice looking couple
She’s a cutie
And SMART...a judge...
A working Mom will go over better with the millions of Moms who have to work...
I could live with Pawlenty. He may not be exciting, but he is not as toxic as the other Veep candidates. On another note, I guess the Mittens will have to pursue other career goals.
I thought it was Rush that was hawking Ruth’s Chris ? From what I can tell about Sean Hannity, he prefers to wrap his mouth around a nice rare Mormon sausage.
That's a hybrid I'm willing to test drive.
That resume’ looks good. Color me impressed.
LOL! I have got to get some rest!!!!
We may have to put some of the Slick Willardbots on suicide watch for tomorrow. Gotta hide the swords and Madame Butterfly records.
