Election '08: "Perhaps my greatest bit of good fortune during my Senate campaign was that no candidate ran a negative TV ad about me." Well, fasten your seat belt, Barack Obama.
As he somewhat smugly recalls in his autobiography, "The Audacity of Hope," the National Republican Senatorial Committee "had prepared a fat binder of opposition research on me before I was even nominated." But it never even fired a shot.
If it had, Obama may not have made it to the Senate, let alone the final lap of the race to the White House.
He revealed that his own research team had spent many hours combing through his record and his past associations to prepare for possible negative ads that "the Republicans might have up their sleeves."
"When my media consultant, David Axelrod, tested them in a poll," Obama said, "my approval rating immediately dropped 10 points." He won't get off that easy in this race.
Even John McCain's relatively mild ads poking fun at his celebrity status have hurt him. For the first time, Obama's negatives are rising

Thank you, RNC and RINO’s Inc., for sparing us “negative campaigning” with the FACTS! What a bunch of maroons!
Obama HUSSEIN and Saddam HUSSEIN, What is the difference?
Obama HUSSEIN HAS DONE NOTHING YET!
It wouldn’t have done them any good. Alan Keyes was running for our side. It would have been a waste of the research they had on him to even bother. Keyes couldn’t have brought it home if they’d found Hussein in bed with a dead girl AND a live boy.
If it had, Obama may not have made it to the Senate, let alone the final lap of the race to the White House.
Was this by design? After all, who else could take out Hillary? Save the dirt until after he wins the nomination.
Yup, I’ve never seen a campaign have as much fun as Team McCain is having. Prior to McCain’s ‘Celebrity’ ad, I’ve never seen so much mockery of an opponent before. It’s actually quite refreshing and encouraging.
:-) I was wondering the same thing.
Speaking of 527s, I just got an E-mail from a new one - Our Country Deserves Better. They sent along two new ads:
Obama’s Patriotism Problem:

Not Faithful to Our Military:

Obama Hussein is still alive, though, so there's still time for him to put the screws to the USA. Anyway, it won't be for lack of trying...
There is an old rule to (successful) campaign ads:
Attack with humor, respond with shame.
Reagan was the master of the gentle dig at an opponent. Reagan invited the audience not to harshly scold his opponent for his wrongdoing, but to smile ruefully at the opponent's folly. And that is a heck of a lot easier sell with the average, non-political, voter.
McCain is not Reagan, in any way, but his team seems to have that down. Of course, it helps that the Obama campaign is, shall we say, a target rich environment.
.
OBAMA partner AYERS said in 1970,
and then repeated in the New York Times on September 11, 2001:
“Kill all rich people.
Break all their cars and apartments.
Bring the revolution home,
KILL YOUR PARENTS.
...That’s where it’s really at”
.
NEVER FORGET AYERS
NEVER FORGET OBAMA
.
escaping slings and arrows from opponents in both the primary and general elections.
You were mentioned.
;0)
The beauty of attacking his pomposity and grandiloquence is that it can be done in a humorous vein, thereby avoiding the appearance of being mean spirited. One of the best ways to tear something down is to make it the subject of ridicule and mockery.
BUMP!!!1
I truly believe that we here Illinois would (collectively) NOT have elected Obama as Senator had we known more about his background - the Wright association, the partnership with Ayers with the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, etc. There was just not much information out there about him at ALL at that point.
Agreed, but only when there’s a viable guy to bring home the win. Ryan was that guy and he was sunk. Keyes wasn’t. Obama could have murdered someone on live TV and still beat Keyes.
Saddam HUSSEIN had far more experience in government. Even had a military uniform that fit him.
Yes but no more than what the Clintonoid regime did to censor "The Path to 911."
Face it, 'rats are not friends of free speech or a free press, and if Obama wins, this kind of tyrannical crap will acquire the force of law.
This boy needs to go down . I was not a fan of McCain but it’s not even a question of if I vote for him it’s how much money I’ll donate to kick Obanana to the curb.
By Yimminy I get him tomorrow fer shure!
Add to this list the bullying tactics of the Obamanazi campaign
against Stanley Kurtz.
One must always credit the source of that memorable remark, that being the infamous Edward Edwards, Governor of Louisiana. He stated just that in response to a reporters question as to when the Feds will finally get a conviction on him. He now resides in a Federal penitentiaty.
Guess he got it wrong.
