Oh please, oh please, oh please....

Palin would be as close to a slam-dunk pick as one could make. Conservatives love her, female Clinton voters would love her, the American people would love her...

The appeal in picking her over Mitt Romney is beyond words.

From what I’ve heard, I could live with her.
If Gov. Palin is willing to get in the mud with
the establishment, go for it.
I have a sneaking suspicion that she could win
a stare-down with ol’Joe.

Pretty hard to pick a 2-year small state governor with only local experience before that, when campaigning against Obama’s inexperience — and while McCain has said over and over that he wants someone first of all, who can step in if anything were to happen to him.

That same plane, as posted by another freeper, was in Arizona on Aug 27, the day McCain was there meeting with advisers about a VP.

You've got that right. I suspect they will for a couple of reasons. The first is that McCain holds a grudge, and Romney took a few swipes at him in the primaries. The second is that his campaign has been doing things much smarter than I am used to from the GOP during elections, and this *is* such a smart pick that I find it hard to believe they won't do it.

IMO, this is the only chance McCain has of winning. She would be a near perfect VP pick. Outside the box thinking and if he wins would be making history to boot. ;)

It's not known for certain if she was on the plane, but common sense would indicate that non-stop charter flights from Anchorage to Middletown, OH (just outside Dayton) are beyond rare. While we don't have any concrete answers, if Palin wasn't on that plane, it would be one hell of a coincidence.

Every time Obama or Biden or Matthews or Olberman attack her for inexperience, McCain just has to say "You're right--someone who's inexperienced shouldn't be president. Tell that to Senator Obama."

And then he can say her time as VP will be on-the-job training, something we can afford in a VP, not in a president.

Her positives far, far outweigh her negatives.

It would be especially cool if she’s the pick from an all boy lineup orchestrated for this little event. Talk about pi$$ing on the demo convention! That’s a lot of flashbang for an intro.

“...female Clinton voters would love her...”

I don’t think so. She is on the wrong side on abortion for them and nothing will make that up. Also, I think she is on the wrong side in the looks department for them (ie Rush’s maxim that NOW exists because those women can’t get dates).

I like her, but I think she defeats McCain’s greatest weapon - pointing out Obama’s inexperience. Let her and/or Jindal get four more years experience in their Governors’ mansions and then who knows.

It is going to be Romney I think. Outside shot at Cantor.

IMO It’s very likely the McCain campaign is going to be against Obama and the issues after his spending spree speech and put the inexperience line on the backburner.

The beauty of this is, the one weakness Palin has, inexperience, Obama also carries so he can’t attack her for that.

Palin would appeal to women and also be a wonderful VP debate play vs angry Joe Biden.

Exactly. And they can't attack the pick as a token 'woman' because it completely opens them up to picking Obama because he's black.

The Palin choice puts the dems in checkmate.

Think about it: McCain's people have been playing up to Hillary supporters in a big way...asking why Obama didn't choose her as VP, making overtures to Democrat women, etc.

If she is chosen they will have played it perfectly.

I just glanced at the Dem convention and he talked about using He would develop natural gas, and He would develop clean coal technologies.

I don’t think Alaska has much (any?) coal, but Gov. Palin sure is trying to get a natural gas pipeline built down to the Lower 48.

Of course if she tries to get the pipeline built it will be because she is in the pockets of BIG OIL (well - you know what I mean). But if He does it, it will be a wonderful “unleashing” (As Bubba Clinton termed it) of a clean abundant fuel that will save us from ourselves.

Right they call her inexperienced and that won't at all reflect on Obama? I just don't see this as an issue.

It's not that the Obamanation would criticize her for being inexperienced. It's that McCain has staked a great deal by asking, "But, is he prepared to lead?"
