James Woods, who played an LA prosecutor on Shark, has set a great example for dealing with identity theft. Woods told Michael Glynn at The Enquirer that he was horrified to learn that someone had charged thousands of dollars on his credit card. The crook had bought a computer and purchased two VIP tickets to the recent Dave Matthews concert at the Staples Center in LA for $3,700. The fraudulent charges were deducted from his bill, but James was determined to find the guilty party. He called the Staples center and cleverly told them he hadn't received his tickets yet - that he wanted to verify the correct name and address. Incredibly, the crook had used his own real name and address. James realized he'd eaten at a restaurant just blocks from where the crook lived. He then called the restaurant and tracked down a guilty waiter. Woods handed the info to the Beverly Hills police and they arrested the guy.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Great story.
James Woods was brilliant in John Carpenter’s movie, Vampires. One of my favorite roles he acted in.
LOL James Woods for Veep!
susie
I enjoy many of his movies, including the T.V. movie where he portrayed Rudy Giuliani.
And yet the police couldn’t be bothered with doing some police work to capture the criminal themselves.
Same thing happened to me at a restaurant in Santa Monica. Never identified the employee, though.
James Woods has genius level IQ. His acting is always good
Yep. Had my identity stolen in Dec. Had the person’s name and everything but the cops did nothing because it was out of state. They suggested calling the FBI. I filed a report on the FTC fraud site but never heard anything.
This is why whenever I pay for a meal with a credit card or debit card, I usually will cross out everything but the last 4 numbers of the credit card # when they give me the receipt to sign. Reduces the temptation.
He would beat ol Scarface McAmnesty hands down! Draft Jim. Draft Jim. Draft Jim.
Good idea, but what if when they take your card to the back room to run it, they print two slips? ;-)
And they just hit reprint. Gives them a full unaltered copy.
I love this guy. He’s a great actor too, anybody see ‘The Onion Field’?
Good for James Woods. I have a special dislike for folks like this that go on shopping sprees for thousands of dollars.
Woods also called in a dry run of the 9/11 hijackers. He saw them acting suspiciously on his flight.
What is it that makes a terrorist strike a “dry run”? One member of the mission calls it off?
He still gets choked up about it.
Funny isn’t it how the flight security keeps the rabble in budget class from having a real knife but the hijackers who killed on 9/11 sat in first class where the passengers get real cutlery.
I like James Woods, he is funny, a good actor and conservative...I like the idea that some actors are coming out of the proverbial closet to endorse McCain.
The Wacky Left still makes the TV and movies, at about a 95% ratio to the 5% conservative.
Talk radio (Rush, Savage, Hannity, Dobbs, Levin) are 95% conservative, that’s why the Liberals want the Fairness Doctorine applied to radio.
They are for free speech...free Liberal-only speech, or you are a bigot, Islamophobe, homophobe, GW denier or un-Progressive.
Gore was and still is an idiot. He lost every single recount, but is still a bitter bitch. But did you know that John Kerry served in Viet Nam? and guess what ? He turned out to be even more out of touch than Gore. but I once stayed at an Holiday Inn Express and saved 15% on my auto insurance from Geico. But it is Bush’s fault.
This also happened to me in Brentwood.
He is a heck of a guy.
Thanks for following the “Rules” LOL! But I wish you had posted a more current pic. He, like many men, just gets better looking as he ages. Seems d@mn unfair to us old broads.
Stunning film! Unforgettable portrayal by Woods.
He is brilliant period. Attended MIT. Interestingly enough, only after a severe hand tendon injury kept him out of the Air Force, where he had been training as a fighter pilot. Ironically, prior to 9/11, Woods flew on a "test run" plane to L.A. with Mohammed Atta.
I met Gore several times in 1988, and his knowledge of defense issues was impressive. He was also pro-life and pro-gun at that time. I do not even recognize the current Algore as the same man. It is very depressing.
Last interview about the 9/11 dry run Woods said there’s parts of that story that he’s still not allowed to talk about in public.
A great man.
I believe it has to be reported where it occurred, happened to my brother, by my other brother. The theft occurred in PA but both lived in NJ and my victim brother had to go to PA to report it, to the town where it happened.
The case did not involve Internet porn or donuts.
James Woods IS the Man!
If a card is out of your possession for just a minute that is all it takes to copy the information on the card. Portable card swipers are available for about $50.
Strange that James Woods observed a dry run aboard a flight prior to 9-11 and that he fell victim to a credit card scam, a ploy used by U.S.-based Al Qaeda operatives.

Anti-terror web snags unwary operators
One of the five defendants in the Detroit indictment, Youssef Hmimssa, previously was identified by waiter Mourad "Mark" Madrane as the man who had recruited him to use an electronic skimming device to steal the credit card identities of some 250 customers at Jameson's Charhouse in Arlington Heights, Ill.
Madrane, who was sentenced Aug. 30 to 18 months in prison for last year's thefts, indicated that fellow Moroccan Hmimssa downloaded the credit data onto a laptop computer, according to reports quoting a U.S. Secret Service agent's court affidavit. The stolen credit accounts allegedly then were used by Humimssa to purchase more than $100,000 worth of computer gear and other items, ostensibly to support anti-U.S. activities, though that has not been claimed in court.
I had two fairly minor incidents of identity theft happen and the police weren’t interested.
A "dry run" is a rehearsal. You only get one shot at a "this is no drill" suicide mission, so you want your team to know exactly how it will go down.
What Mr. Woods saw was people who arrived together sit widely separated (evenly spaced), then simultaneously get up and move to strategic areas of the cabin.
Take my word for it, or look it up. I'm tired of providing links to what is well-known among the attentive.
With that much information, I think I would “pay a visit” to the waiter in the dark...
He never got over Sean Young.
This is an incident of credit card fraud (theft) not identity theft.
Had my ID stolen and ‘they’ returned it with 50 bucks and a brochure how to get my credit ‘fixed’. <:
LOL...did anyone ELSE read this one line and say to themselves: "Uh huh. That about sums it up perfectly..."
This must be why airline flight attendants routinely warn passengers not to congregate near the front lavatory.
Also many people write "CHECK ID" in the signature box on the back of the cards.
I agree.
The Gores really "went over to the Dark Side."
No, she never got over him.
She s a complete psycho.
It is against the law for any receipt to show the full credit card number.
If you recieve a receipt that shows the full number, throw a fit. Or call Visa and complain. Those machines were supposed to be replaced years ago.
The only way a crook should be able to get your # is when they have the card in their hands and copy the #.
Only the last 4 #’s should show on any receipt.
I’m surprised nobody’s mentioned the episode of “Family Guy” where Peter Griffin’s identity is stolen by...James Woods!
LOL
According to Hollywood legend — who cares if it’s true — she crazy-glued his privates to his leg.
