(CNN) – A leading House Democrat said Thursday John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is a "risky" move that could ultimately prove disastrous to the Republican prospects in November.

Meanwhile, a top Senate Democrat said the pick is a "Hail Mary pass" and a "roll of the dice," in what is the initial reactions from McCain's rival party.

Well lets compare:

obamawama: No foreign experience, belonged, for twenty years, to a church whos leader did not like America and also the person who wants to POTUS who likes playing with his crotch rather that paying respect to the Flag of the country he will be expected to defend.

biden: An arrogant pos who steals others peoples thoughts and ideas.

Great leaders for the the U.S.A..

All of a sudden, it’s not such a good idea to be the good buddy of a stinking commie.

just heard her remarks. I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH SARAH. WHAT A WOMAN.

She's an excellent public speaker.

Far from a "Hail Mary" pass, this appears to be an inspired choice. She's been taking the Democrats to task because they won't allow drilling in Alaska and offshore. Should be music to everyones' ears.

Besides the which, Geraldine Ferraro didn't sink the Mondo; it was Walter's promise to raise taxes.

Hail Mary indeed. Some where Roger Staubach is smiling.

If Sarah is a “hail mary pass,” then call Senator McCain Roger Staubach. Football fans will know what I’m talking about.

...was elected by more humans as Mayor and Govenor than all the votes Obama ever received.

In Obama's defense, he polls way better with the deceased here in Chicago than Palin ever could.

In Chicago, they say you should vote Republican while your alive, because once you die you will only vote for Democrats.

No, it’s risky to put Obama up as your PRESIDENTIAL candidate. Want some descriptors of that?

How bout “a train wreck”, “an accident waiting to happen”, “flop sweat”, “a full pantload”, “whine me a river”....

Shall I continue?

Even if all it does is Jazz up the GOP base, it will be a brilliant pick. AND IT WILL JAZZ UP THE GOP BASE. Evangelicals are thrilled. Prolifers too. Gun owning NRA members? She’s one of them. It’s not every day that you get a candidate that can appeal to the hillary voters and NRA at the same time. I cannot imagine that picking a woman would turn too many voters off, and the idea that you would go “the VP is too risky so I’m going with barack hussein obama” is absurd.

Let them try the inexperience line. It will fail. Their attacks on Quayle failed. We look for the PRESIDENT to be ready on Jan 20th not the VP.

MCCAIN/PALIN is a great ticket.

Recent polls show Americans are more conservative than TV pundits think they are. Palin will bring in those people, women and those that see Obama as an arrogant, empty suit. Polls show Obama tanking. Women who would’ve voted for Hillary will vote for McCain because of Palin. And Sarah Barrucuda earned her nicknmae name. Also, Palin wants to drill. That’s what Americans want.

So it's official - John McCain has thrown a Hail Mary and tapped Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. The trad med types are ga-ga about what a game-changing choice Palin is. And they're right. It is a game-changer. The Palin pick takes a race already leaning toward Obama and pushes it further into his corner.

Why? Because Sarah Palin is the most unqualified VP nominee in modern history, with the possible exception of Admiral Stockdale.

It is going to be sooooooo much fun to see Gender Politics used AGAINST the RATs for a change.

Male street hustler from Chicago = greatest politician of our time.

Female Governor from Alaska = completely unqualified

It is over the democrats in this elections and some of them know it some are too delusional to realize it. Even before Palin pick McCain was certain to win the elections. Now with Palin pick it will be a crushing defeat for them because many of Hillary Clinton supporters will vote for her just based on the gender issue.

Palin vs Biden in the debates, should be a breeze for Palin, she’s already dealt with 5 toddlers who likely had lots of tantrums.

This is a brilliant pick!
