(CNN) – A leading House Democrat said Thursday John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is a "risky" move that could ultimately prove disastrous to the Republican prospects in November.

Meanwhile, a top Senate Democrat said the pick is a "Hail Mary pass" and a "roll of the dice," in what is the initial reactions from McCain's rival party.

The Democrats believe that they can hammer her on the issue of experience.

That only allows the GOP to savage their presidential nominee.

“I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH SARAH”

That was the first time I’ve heard her speak and I too was impressed. Paying tribute to Ferraro and Hillary was a nice touch.

My only concern now is how she’ll do against Biden at the debates.

I’m also very happy with this pick. Dodged a bullet by not selecting Willard!

She’s pro-choice.
NRA member.
She’s an avid hunter.
Has 5 kids (one of them is serving in the US Army)
Has executive experience, unlike Obama, Biden, and even McCain

Obama is screwed.

IF McCain/Palin don’t issue some sort of advert like the one below,
they deserve to lose:

If you believe you have a fundamental right to own a gun, rifle or
shotgun
AND
to defend yourself and others against criminals...
you know in your heart that you MUST vote for McCain/Palin.

Despite Obama’s deceitful contention that he’s a Second Amendment guy.

She might have some drawbacks but so did all of McCain’s possible choices. So this is very exciting and I think she will help McCain. Palin is a very appealing personality. I wish she were at the top of the ticket.

In any case the Dems are obviously running scared. Got to love it.

If Palin is such a bad pick and "risky" why are Dems complaining? They should be celebrating!

Palin is going to secure the conservative base. (Prolife, gunowner, huntress, ...)

Palin is going the secure the "special needs" crowd (asthe mother of a Down syndrome child).

As a woman Palin will be seen to disarm the dems criticism of "picking and old, establishment white guy."

Let 'em complain all they want about her so called inexperience. She's a sitting governor and has executive experience unlike the cypher O-bama.

Of the 2 candidates and their VPs, the one with the least experience is Barrack Obama.

Wow, that statement is genius!!!

Yes, but is she clean and articulate...oh wait...

The beauty of Sarah Palin - SHE IS NOT MARRIED TO BILL CLINTON!!!!!!!!

What a great normal family - her spirit is right there in the open - I am so impressed and grateful that John McCain had the courage, insight and understanding to select her.

It says more about McCain than anything else that has been written about him.

Looks as if Cindy and Sarah have already bonded - WOWSER!!!

I was planning on voting for Barr. But now I’m gonna vote McCain. The problem is that I live in IL, so my vote doesn’t count (or, more accurately for Chicago politics, won’t be counted, unless it is for a “D”).
