Dems say Palin is 'risky,' could be a disaster
CNN ^ | August 29, 2008 | Alexander Mooney

Posted on 08/29/2008 1:43:04 PM PDT by Zakeet

A leading House Democrat said Friday John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is a "risky" move that could ultimately prove disastrous to the Republican prospects in November.

Meanwhile, a top Senate Democrat said the pick is a "Hail Mary pass" and a "roll of the dice," in what is the initial reactions from McCain's rival party.

Speaking to South Carolina ETV Radio, House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn likened the choice of Palin to Walter Mondale's choice of Geraldine Ferraro in 1984 and George H.W. Bush's pick of Dan Quayle in 1988. Both picks — relatively unknown political figures at the time — generated initial excitement but were ultimately deemed poor choices by many political observers.

"I think (her selection) would be something similar to Dan Quayle — Dan Quayle proved to be sort of an embarrassment as a campaigner, being thrust on a national stage like that could be very tough," Clyburn said. "Now Mondale tried to shake things up by going with Geraldine Ferraro, she proved to be a disaster as a running mate. And as a campaigner, she was absolutely awful."

"And so I just think that it is very risky for McCain to do this, but it may be all he has left," Clyburn also said.

In an issued statement, Sen. Chuck Schumer said Palin is significantly mismatched to Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden and said the prospect of her becoming president is "troubling."

I was so glad I got to watch Bob Beckel this morning. He was slumping over in his chair, total nauseous. He could not hide it! It was hilarious. He startled the Fox&Friends crew, because it so obvious he was devastated.

I then had to check on Andrea Mitchell, she aged 10 years right before my eyes.

It will be a disaster alright, for the dems and they know it. If she was really a bad choice they would be saying how great she is not bad mouthing her.

Now would be a great time to invest in “Depends”...

The rats are going to become permanently incontinent once they realize what Palin on the ticket has done to their Obama/Biden insult to the American people.

The ticket may now have tails long enough to drag some new Republicans into office.....

"Dems say Palin is 'risky,' could be a disaster"

McCain's choice of Sarah Palin is a total, unprecedented disaster of the first magnitude for obamassa and bidet. I will guess that after about a week, bidet will resign his candidacy "for the good of women and motherhood", whatever, so the obamassa can pick either a woman or hillary.

I am sure we will be seeing alot of that because of the NRA issue but also the image of her being “tough<>P> It is not just about her being "tough", she is commander in chief of the Alaskan National guard, she has visited them in Kuwait and she has also visited wounded soldiers in the hospital in Germany where Obamaosama wouldn't go without his photo op people tagging along.

The shooting pictures are probably her in Kuwait with her Alaskan unit.

This is another aspect the dems are forgetting(on purpose no doubt)in their storm of criticisms today, she has more military experience than obamaosama and Biden combined.

Here in South Carolina our own James Clyburn is a big fish in a little pond - his House district is so gerrymandered that people on different sides of the same street are in different districts. Clyburn can win reelection from here to kingdom come without a single white vote. And he won’t get any, because his attitude toward white voters is, “now it’s your turn to ride in the back of the bus!”

Alaska isn’t the only state to have its own `bridge to nowhere’. Clyburn has pushed building a five mile long causeway in the Lowcountry that connects nothing to nothing, not even access to interstate. Here in Columbia he had built a pedestrian overpass so ornate (emblazoned with his name) that it only cost slightly less than the Golden Gate bridge.

In short, for all this and as head of the Congressional Black Caucus, James Clyburn thinks he’s G-d and what he says, goes.

Anyway, Governor Palin is a superb individual and a superb choice by John Mccain. IMHO, Obama is toast in November.

Reminds me of Emperor Hirohito's admission that “The war has developed not necessarily to Japan's advantage.”
