Excellent (and fascinating) point.
I very much like this part of your response. The more of us who carry and use firearms, the less often will we see keeping and bearing arms treated like a crime.
Although, I understood that the difference in standard of proof was one of the reasons why asset forfeiture was such a popular way to steal stuff from their supposed “masters”.
Perhaps pushing to have reasonable doubt applied to asset forfeiture cases would help curb some of the abuses.
What disturbs me the most about this is when did 83% of Americans become such government-lickers? Your fellow jurors seem to be more motivated by a desire to play the role assigned them by the government in this charade of a prosecution/lawsuit/whateverthehellitwas, than by the responsibility to be gaurdians of this guy’s Constitutional rights. What the hell?
Oops. Meant as a response to Netalia’s #25. Not sure how I managed to respond to #29 instead.
They still mark the case within your luggage...still bright orange and says, FIREARM - UNLOADED. The TSA guys like it when firearms are declared...it gives them a little change from the normal routine of groping around in everyones undies.
I just want to update this. I found out today that this trial has been re-scheduled for December.
It’s really too bad!
Keep up the good fight though. If you give in to this, it will give the courts precedent to use later against more law abiding citizens.
=(
Just read through the thread. I must say that I’m proud of Netalia for standing up for what is right, and just. We need many more just like her out there.
