Those who seek to live your lives for you, to take your liberty in return for relieving you of yours, those who elevate the state and downgrade the citizen, must see ultimately a world in which earthly power can be substituted for divine will. And this nation was founded upon the rejection of that notion and upon the acceptance of God as the author of freedom.

Now, those who seek absolute power, even though they seek it to do what they regard as good, are simply demanding the right to enforce their own version of heaven on earth, and let me remind you they are the very ones who always create the most hellish tyranny.

My grandmother had a piece of jewelry in her jewelry box—a gold elephant pin with big black glasses on it. I would look into her treasures and see that elephant...I was only 6 or 7, so I had no idea what the glasses (or the elephant) signified. Now I know...would that we were a nation of Goldwater conservatives again.

Megabump for a true conservative. America has paid and continues to pay quite a price for foolishly electing LBJ and his clones into office and scorning Goldwater’s policies.
