Hundreds of terrorists have been killed by the SAS waging a "secret war" against al-Qaeda in Iraq, The Sunday Telegraph can disclose.

More than 3,500 insurgents have been "taken off the streets of Baghdad" by the elite British force in a series of audacious "Black Ops" over the past two years.

“The SAS have to be the best special forces in the world.”

Some Americans have been known to eat a snake or two. Be proud of them!

>The SAS have to be the best special forces in the world.<

Arguably the best SF in the world is the Israeli Mossad, and Delta Force. Don’t forget our Navy Seals. I’m more concerned that black operations results got to the media. No one will ever know exactly what kind of black ops were successful or not, unless your GS rating is up to here.

It may take me a while to check on it, but I’ll get back to you.

I also want to find out if that 20% number is actual.

There should be some sort of Academy Awards ceremony for participants in the War on Terror.

... and the nominees for Best Performance by a Special Forces Group are ...

I know I'm not breaking any secrets by also just guessing that just maybe , just maybe, some of our combined units have also killed several dozen/hundreds/(insert number) of insurgents in snatch/shoot , snatch/grab, or just targeting of individuals known to be bad guys.

I'm thinking that maybe that's why all of the prosecutions of Marines has been done in order to combat this operation by our troops.

I don't know if the SAS has NCIS/JAG crawling up their b#tts, but I'm sure that they'll have some sort of propaganda fight waged against them once this becomes widely known.

Does anybody wonder why we don't list "casualties" like KIA, WIA, captured or possibles in weekly updates to keep a tally of the enemy dead? Cause we don't want them to know. The less intel they get the better. All they know is that Achmed, Abdul, or Muhamadama has just evaporated.... they don't know if he's dead, captured, wounded, cooperating or just hauled a##. By confusing the jihadist, they never know or have a hard time planning large logistical attacks. Cause they don't know their man or woman power.

I've seen Brits working with Gurkhas against "insurgents"....they are very, very good. I still think some of our guys are just as good or better at certain things, but I'd hate to have the SAS carrying around a photo of me and showing it around where I lived, worked or played.

I remember when the IRA were in a van to blow up and shoot a police station but the SAS had heard about this and shot everyone in the van and then disappeared

Another time there were 4 IRA in Gibraltar ready to plant a bomb and kill , well the SAS intercepted them and shot the 4 of them in the middle of the street

when one of them were asked in court about why they had shot so many rounds into them he replied because my magazine was empty

Thankfully these boys do not go by the normal rules and fight the fight like the terrorist does

general Petraeus is indeed full of compliments about them and don’t forget in the gulf war when one of the SAS was captured the Delta guy said that he would have never got though the torture if it wasn’t for a certain SAS guy who was there.

Anyone ever see that program about how a SAS soldier tracked for miles upon miles in a short time through the desert of Iraq and never got caught even though the entire Iraqi army was looking for him

Fascinating to watch

I hope some of this is going on in Pakistan. The only way to deal with this is to get in the mosques and see who believes the Imam. The ones that do extra homework need to wake up with their tongue coming our of their windpipe. Just another unknown death in a country where you die for drinking whiskey. No muss, no fuss.

Yeah thanks, very interesting. I had read about this Task Force Black a while ago. Makes sense really, combining the strengths, ideas, lessons, training, routines and knowhow of very resourceful people.

The Topgun’s of Special Ops.

Green Berets are different animals than SAS/Delta. They specialize in languages and cultures, and their job is to work with indiginous tribes and peoples behind enemy lines to stir up trouble using insurgency tactics. Bare-knuckle, backalley brawling-style counter-terrorism is really not in their job description.

Here is a correspondence I received today, regarding the fund for the families of fallen Delta Force members.

I spoke with COL Eisenbarth who is on their board. He said to have anyone wishing to donate to this group make a check payable to:

Fallen Eagles Family Support Group

And it can be mailed to him at the address below:
