Sarah Palin’s one cool customer

Millions of mothers can relate to Palin

By Michael Graham

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

ST. PAUL, Minn. - And you thought the Clinton-Obama convention was a soap opera.

Enter stage (far) right: The Sarah Palin Chronicles.

John McCain’s VP choice was already the fastest-breaking curveball American politics had seen in a generation before this Reuters report:

“The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.”

“Faked” pregnancies. Teen sex. Government cover-ups. It’s like a bad episode of “Desperate Housewives,” except Gov. Palin is much hotter than Marcia Cross.

And she’s been the nominee for less than a week.

For normal people who don’t surf the fever swamps of the DailyKos and other liberal Web sites, the reference to faking a pregnancy has to do with a story invented by some lefty blogger that Trig Palin - Sarah’s newborn son who has Down syndrome - is actually the illegitimate son of the governor’s oldest daughter.

This idiotically offensive slur was demonstrably false - it took me less than 60 seconds to find a photo of a painfully-pregnant Gov. Palin from earlier this year - but pro-Obama activists like Andrew Sullivan and even some mainstream media outlets jumped on it.

And now, with the news of Bristol Palin’s pregnancy, the 2008 presidential campaign officially has more plot twists than an episode of “Lost.” It also has two legitimate stars: Barack Obama, descended from the heavens to heal our souls and deliver our nation; and Sarah Palin, who wandered in from the Alaska wilderness with a rifle under one arm and a baby in the other.

The libs are terrified of this woman. They had their script ready to deal with Romney or Pawlenty and McCain threw them a curveball. Now the knives are out and I say bring it on. Let them attack Sarah’s family. Let them talk about her credentials while running their own smoke and mirrors candidate. Let them count on that grinning idiot Joe Biden to blow her out of the water in a debate. Let Shrillary’s minions denounce her. The best antidote to this stuff is Sarah herself. When she doesn’t match the white-trash Quayle image they are trying to paint, America will see it.

Sarah Palin Born on a mountain top of Alaska
The greenest state in the land of the free
Raised in the woods so’s she knew ev’ry tree
Kilt her a b’ar when she was only three
Sarah, Sarah Palin, queen of the wild frontier

Fought single-handed through many a war
Till the enemy was whipped and peace was in store
And while she was handlin’ this risky chore
She made herself a legend forever more
Sarah, Sarah Palin, the woman who knew no fear

She went off to Congress and served a spell
Fixin’ up the Government and the laws as well
Took over Washington, so I heard tell
And she patched up the crack in the Liberty Bell
Sarah, Sarah Palin, seeing her duty clear

When she came home her politic’ing was done
And the western march had just begun
So she packed her gear and her trusty gun
And lit out a-grinnin’ to follow the sun
Sarah, Sarah Palin, leading the pioneer

The libs are terrified of this woman.

I saw the alien Carville on LK last night, and his teeth were a'gnashing something fierce. I was expecting lasers from his eyes! They absolutely hate her, because she's a pork-busting politician, a game-eating hunter, and a baby-keeping woman. She is anathema to liberals, and she's causing them to out their core hatreds for all of America to see.

Sarah’s terrific in action.

If you have time, watch this debate from 2006, Alaska governor’s race.

She doesn’t call her opponent a liar ~ she’s too classy for that.
Instead she says, “Maybe you should revisit your assumption...”

There's such a huge difference between Hillary, Pelosi and many other women in politics. Governor Palin is a true conservative.

Remember, Bubba was Governor of Arkansas and Hillary was on committees. And her NY seat?? Minnie Mouse as a Dem could have won it. It wasn't a win, it was an appointment.

As for 18,000,000 cracks....How many women who didn't have a Prez for a husband have progressed to the ceiling as per Peter's Principle. That's billions and billions of cracks.

Hillary wasn't fighting for women....she was fighting for herself and "POWER".

......and Drudge has picture of the father...............
btw........the age of consent is 16 in Alaska. Guess the lefties didn't mention that. This is a non-story that's getting played-out over the course of 72 hours. Sarah's press release said it all. Her daughter will have a tough road.........but her Mom and Dad will offer love and support. Tough deal, but Sarah is handling this perfectly.

Makes her position on abortion iron clad. Makes anyone who asks the question a complete idiot. Makes any candidate who opens their mouth on abortion in a national debate a bigger idiot.

Palin has effectively satisfied the pro-lifers of both parties and muzzled the pro-choicers without ever speaking a word about it. Her actions trump words.

People acting righteously always angers the wicked. This is what we’re seeing.

And, if you have any conversations on this, make sure to ask the question

“what’s morally superior, the girl getting married, having the child, and having the full support of her family, or the attitude of ‘wouldn’t want her to be punished with a baby’?”

A hardcore pro-abort will say they believe there’s no moral question involved, but they’d be lying, they know better.

Unfortunately most families around me couldn't offer their full support to much other than a case of beer, a carton of smokes, and garnished wages for three kids from three women.

Palin illustrates to the "me society" that taking the easy way out is not the way to be. That scares and/or offends most. Bill Clinton made them feel good about themselves. Adultery, boozing, associating with bad people, and just giving in to every desire was just fine if you are a Clinton fan.

Look at how Noah was despised and hated.

Just by obeying God, he demonstrated that he and his family were saved and that, by implication, others were not.

Same deal - the righteous anger the wicked, without interacting with them at all, but just by living.

The present Palin controversy is a “media riot.”

First, it will drive the ratings for Palin’s speech tomorrow night through the roof. I’ve been predicting that the tune-in for her speech would be second only to Obama’s “Night at the Parthenon” show. If the McCain campaign leaks word that Palin’s going to address her daughter’s pregnancy, she may surpass him.

I agree that it would drive the ratings through the roof. If the media keeps harping on it, then Palin is OBLIGATED to explain it to clear the air. I think she should confront the sexism that demands a female politician explain how she's going to care for her family but doesn't ask that of a male politician.

What I've really learned in all this is that the liberal elites really have no standards. They only have talking points. Sadly, that suggests they have no foundation at all. They simply drift. And that's what they want for the rest of us.

I know no one may ever hear it, but if any McCain/Palin volunteers with a connection to a connection to ... the top are out there, here goes: To get a slam-dunk break-the-backboard score on the issue of Bristol Palin, have her father give a speech about his feelings and how even if he was disappointed, this is his child (and grandchild)and he will love and defend her to the end. Show the US what a real man with real honesty and values does. I think the ticket would catch 80% of the male vote in this country after such a speech. (I'm thinking of the father in the movie, Juno. How he and the step-mom acted like adults). Of course, the reality is we don't know how Todd Palin actually feels about this, but he appears to be a very secure manly man who has no problem with his wife being of "higher status" than him.
