Kurtz says the press has a "traditional gatekeeper role". While I find this assertion arrogant, if it is a fact, isn't part of that role sifting the wheat from the chaff? If so, they have failed miserably.
They (attackers) at all levels are afraid of her. Sarah's strength of character. Malevolence is behind these absolutely outrageous, egregious, malicious, hateful attacks on her and her family. It is most unfair for the children. I'm confident that Sarah will stand up under it. She has a pioneering spirit, and resolve.
The best thing we can do is cover her and her family, and John and family with prayers for for them to be protected

Palin is the hope of winning this election and the democrats know it. The are out for blood and worse.
2 possible reasons:

2. Machiavellian: they count on the opponents to overreact and overdue it to the degree that the general public will be disgusted by the media and Obama camp, and not the Palin/McCain.
