Sarah Palin Please Read this Before Tonights Speech (vanity)

Posted on 09/03/2008 8:23:08 AM PDT by Scythian

Dear Sarah, tonight, during your speech, do not mention nor even hint at the MSM attacks upon you. If you do the election will have been lost. If you speak over the top of thier attacks you will belittle them and deservedly so, and they will then fly into a frenzie the likes which has never been seen before.

If you do mention, hint or allude to the attacks, you validate them, make the MSM your masters, and turn the conversation over to them. Please, if you have to adjust your speech do it, do not give mention to the attacks. Just talk of hope, honor, and love of country.

You have got to be kidding. Nobody likes the media and everyone knows it is unfair to attack children. Sarah will get a huge boost by hitting the media with both barrels.

You’re kidding, right? She doesn’t need to go into great detail, but she needs to fight back.

We’re in love with her because she’s got the backbone our party has been lacking for years.

I hope she rips them to shreds.

I disagree...shoot down their stupid arguments and do not hold back. To me to pretend that these inane accusations do not exist is disingenuous. Stand tall and fear them not.
Look them straight in the eye and take them on...one and all.
That shows character and resolve.

What I am saying is what I mean, if she ignores the attacks, the American people will see the MSM for what it is, if she validates the attacks, the MSM sway begins to take hold and she will never recover.

From yesterday's show:

RUSH: Now, this morning on Fox, about 11:30 Eastern time, Bill Kristol was telling a story that a McCain staffer had shared with him. The McCain staffer had talked to Sarah Palin and had warned her of the intense scrutiny that she would be under. The McCain staffer told her to expect them to really come after her, no-holds-barred. She thanked the McCain staffer for the advice and then asked this question: Do you know the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? The answer is lipstick. So I think, ladies and gentlemen, Sarah Palin is probably going to be the best person to defend Sarah Palin. I don't think she's intimidated by any of this. I don't think she's frightened by it.

Heck, it’s above my paygrade too.

I’ve been most impressed by the McCain campaign in the last few weeks. I think they know what she needs to say.

If she was a southernor, she could “bless their hearts.” But with her background, I figure she’s more likely to mount them on the wall.

Must go on offense with confidence and resolve.

Strike balance between assertive without seeming ballistic.

Someone at NRO had a good suggestion:

Explain what has been said about the Palin family, clear the record and then say: don’t worry about me. The Palin family is strong. Worry about your family and the country, because Barack Obama is not qualified to run a car wash!

Exactly, she needs to stay above the fray and let the rest of us do the dirty work. Right now, people are going to look at her and judge her as vice-presidential material, based on how she is handling this awful time in her life. If she transcends it, she wins, big time.

Campbell Brown? Is that you? LOL :)

Seriously though ... I get what you are saying, and I think that she can defuse the situation easily enough by introducing her son-in-law to be (and introduce him as “my daughter Bristol’s fiancee of 9 months” — or however long they have been engaged).

As for the rest of it, she has to point out her accomplishments and record of getting things done in Alaska. Finish her introduction speech that she started when McCain introduced her. Fire up the Base, and the hard working women and moms of America who know the unique challenges that a woman like her has faced.

Talk about the challenges raising children today, how she is going to work for the ordinary American who is like herself, and not a Washington Insider. How she has and will continue to root out corruption that is an anathema to ordinary folks (and subtly dig at the fact that Obama and Biden are not ordinary folk). Keep it in the theme of Country First that now appears to be the McCain campaign slogan.

I think if she does any of that she’ll do fine and fire up the Base and undecideds.

She needs to take the tack of a tough reformer. I agree, let the MSM garbage go unacknowledged. If she responds, they win.

At the end of the evening, the goal is for the rest of the country to know what makes this woman tick. If she brings substance and vision and strength and grace, this will be a home run.

Force the media to discuss issues. She will be rebutting the MSM by the presence and unity of her family. She shouldn’t take their vile bait. Let them choke on it.

She needs to defend herself ONCE.

Something like

“as a new name to the elite DC circles, I could expect to be immediately attacked by some sectors of the media. The goal is to paint someone as ‘this or that’ from the start. And sure enough, that is what happened. This is typical, old-school politics. I was somewhat surprised that they would bring my family into this. BUT So be it. This nonsense will pass, and what is important is that we continue to talk about the IMPORTANT things - lower taxes, energy security, and strong, experienced leadership for our country.”

If she totally ignored what has been an unprecedent attack of media bias and hypocrisy, she would look just as phony as all those Democrats standing on their convention stage pretending to be ‘ordinary Americans’. She has to stand up for herself and her family, and she can do so with class and dignity, and shove it right back in their face.

Personally, if it were me, I would mount a Mini-Gun on the podium and spend the entire time razing the press boxes.
