Genesis 1, when referring to the days of creation, reads "And the evening and the morning were the first day." This pattern is repeated for the next 5 days. A simple, contextual reading, suggests these are 24 hour days. Your are somewhat correct in asserting that the Hebrew word "yom" can have different meanings, based on the context. However, everytime the OT uses the term "yom" with a number, it always refers to a literal 24 hour day. This is repeated in the pattern offered in Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Your position is weak, and is not formed by referring to biblical references, but rather the evolutionary beliefs, from whence you superimpose anything other that a 24 hour day. I post this not to convince you, for your mind is made up, and not fact, evidence, or proper hemenuetical understanding of the scripture will change that. Rather, it is written for those who would follow the baseless assertion of the age-day interpretation of the Genesis account.
