Republican presidential candidate John McCain picked Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate after conservatives threatened a revolt if he went with his first choice, former Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman.
Senator McCain has defended his choice of Ms Palin to run for vice-president after news of her 17-year-old pregnant unmarried daughter dominated day one of the Republican national convention in St Paul, Minnesota.
Now it has emerged that the shock announcement of the unknown Ms Palin was forced upon Senator McCain after conservatives threatened a revolt at the convention if he pushed ahead with his preferred vice-presidential pick, Independent and former Democrat Senator Joe Lieberman....

Now, that's how desperation looks like! A cold sweaty fear that, as an old adage goes, their failed kill just made Palin stronger.

Shovelan can either show us the sources for his article, or he can print a retraction. I refuse to take BS from the news media any longer. If he can’t do that, he should be ignored.

Clever and misleading juxtapositioning. Yes, the evangelicals revolted against the idea of Lieberman. But McCain then had various choices, Palin was in no way “forced” on McCain by the evangelicals. Few expected her selection.

What an idiot
McCain’s own people told the lame stream press that they purposely leaked false information to send the idiot press on a wild goose chase.
Sarah was on the real short list & was there for awhile. No last minute choice.

The folks who convinced the McCain campaign to put Gov. Palin on the ticket deserve medals. The MSM is mad because they had a ton of material to splatter on TV, radio, and print regarding Romney and Pawlenty. They spent a fortune building up their hit pieces. All to waste. The choice was brilliant for many reasons: neutralizing the experience debate — if experience is no qualification for the Democrat nomination, why do the Republicans have to defend on that ground? But what makes the MSM management besides-themselves angry is the amount of money the McCain campaign got them to waste. Brilliant.

This is crap. ABC in Oz must have adopted Rather Rules of Journalism where you just make up the “facts” as long as you believe the story to be true.
ABC won’t be around for the next election cycle so their opinion doesn’t matter much anyhow.

As a former network reporter, I can tell you, this is the worst form of journalism.
The fool doesn't even quote “unnamed sources.”
The story is entirely unsourced. It would get an F in News Writing 101

Idiocy. McCain always knew Lieb would not fly, and their deal has been for a cabinet seat all along.
Once Lieb is out, Paliln is the most maverick-y pick left that also puts balance on the ticket. So we have a combination of a bold pick that serves a pragmatic function. Interesting “strategery.”

MSM is just upset that McCain did not destroy his campaign by choosing Lieberman as his VP. That choice would have earned McCain the political equivalent of a Darwin Award.
