They said the teleprompter was a Vista machine and crashed.

Just because there might be a prompter does not necessarily make it easy to give a speech. There are things such as congruent inflections & natural flow of communication. The person giving the speech still has to go so as though they were not reading from a prompter.

CNN’s crowd (of liberal mass media inside-the-beltway) “experts BEGAN by all repeating the “it was a great speech written by (the Bush White House)... “

Until they were reminded (rather abruptly) that EVERY speech is “written by” somebody else, and “no one last week” talked about who wrote the democrats speech.

THAT comment woke the group up: They KNOW now that THEIR prejudices ARE being noticed effectively - and, like Peggy Noonan’s comments - are remembered.

The women (all except Gore's dnc robot) were specifically more favorable than the men: I think the women commentators realized that Obama just lost a LOT of votes tonight.

Reid's “shrill” critiques were also IMMEDIATELY picked up as a direct insult to Palin - and THAT insult didn't go over very well either. Even Gore's robot didn't repeat Reid's words - because the panel knew that Hillary is “shrill” and comes across as what she is: a hate-filled power-grubbing woman.

Sarah comes across as a woman who has a sister with a new gas station who shops for milk in the grocery store, with her baby in her arm.

Sarah’s only problem is not being able to see thru lead.

You never know!

I was watching CNN during Fox New commercials. Several of the women on the chit-chat panel kept going back to Harry Reid’s use of the word “shrill”. Now they covered it by insinuating that it was a Reid staffer, and not Reid, who made the comment, but still...

She did great, but I thought there were 2 parts in her speech, where I kind of got confused. I thought maybe it was me, but could have been the teleprompter.

One part was about the middle 3rd of the speech. Sorry I don’t even remember what she was talking about. But all of a sudden, I couldn’t tell if she was talking about McCain or Obama for a few seconds.

And then at the end, I thought she missed ending. Sounded like she forgot to say something about “John McCain for President”. Kind of felt like she left something hanging.

Anyway, not 100% sure, but she covered it great. I think she also had a set of speech notes on the podium. I saw her turning pages when they had a camera view from the side.

I hope all the MSM gets note of this. If there was a problem, no one was aware of it. Shows Sarah’s professionalism and calm demeanor.

PBS had crowd-shot cameras positioned behind her where they actually picked up the text on the teleprompters occasionally.

I’m sure it was pure happenstance. Really.

There was one point at which she had an extra long pause. At that time, I thought she had lost her place, I almost expected her to go rummaging through her papers. I realized that something was not right, and got that shot of anxiety, knowing what would happen to me at that point(I would freak out or something), but she handled it like a pro.

Compare her performance to Senator Porky Pig from Illinois.

Cheers!

I saw her with a sheaf of papers with her speech on the podium..She looked directly at the center most of the time so I wonder how much she actually relied on the teleprompter at all? I think she knew just what she was going to say. She is one polished and refined lady and Biden better watch out..I think he will not be the match for her he thinks he is.

The VP debate?

Palin will take Biden’s head off:

She runs marathons,
pulled gill nets for hours from an open-deck Alaskan boat off-shore for her family’s business,
has worked through pain and injury on that boat when no help was available,
made the winning shot at the buzzer of the state basketball game while playing with a stress fracture (Obama was a bench warmer on his team),
shoots and dresses out moose in the field,
cheers on her husband in a snowmachine race in -29 degree weather,
won state honors as a high school cross-country runner,
in her office, sits on one of the two grizzly bear skin rugs her father has shot ...

When you write a speech yourself, you know it by memory. All you need is the odd reminder so you don’t miss a section.

She is simply amazing, isn’t she..a breath of fresh air...a pioneer kind of gal...and just what we need. I am thrilled with her as the choice.
