Way better than Obama “Das Wienerschnitzel” (yes, it is a neuter and not a masculine noun, contrary to the naming of the fast food chain).

I don't like such remarks. I served in Germany also and don't share your terrible opinion. I became fluent in their language, studied their culture and was very interested in how a government can get people to hate others.

What a title!!
I had a very close friend, who had a German wife. They went down to a local German store. They were looking at stuff, and a German worker in the store started to bad mouth Americans, talking dirt, cursing these two while they stood shopping yet was smiling at them while she did it. Finally, my friend's wife went over and spoke German to her and told her she heard every word and wanted to see the store manager. She told the manager about it and the manager was like ho hum, Americans come in here all the time and are mean, hateful and rude. Sure, we were the problem. Not the Germans. I got sick of hearing how Americans were the problem, and the good Germans were not. This is only one incident. There were many others over the years. MANY!

My wife feels the same way as I do. There ARE some decent Germans also. I did not label every one of them that way.
I am so jealous. That is the 2nd best time of year in Germany, imho. Weinachtsmarkt season is the best.
We stopped at a little Gasthaus on the Weinstrasse between Kaiserslautern and Bad Kreuznach....just picked it at random.
The zwiebelkuchen was soooo homemade. They had the top of the cake crusted in crispy bacon/pork (tiny diced kasseler kamm, perhaps) The federweisser had that sweet, gritty flavor that tastes like nothing else.

I 've lived among you since 1952. BUT I'm 110% (as you say) Fritz.
However, the time I spent at Bitburg/Spangdahlem (USAF) contradicts everything you report. Germans are some of the nicest people you could meet. Also had interactions with Brits, Italians, Swedes & Dutch. I didn't act like Conan the conquerer. So we all got along & had a good time.
Maybe that was your problem, acting like a conquerer.
