Obama camp denies Sutton story (HarvardGate & Dr. Khalid al Mansour)
Politico ^ | 9/5/08 | Ben Smith

Posted on 09/05/2008 8:04:04 AM PDT by pissant

Barack Obama's campaign is flatly denying a story told by former Manhattan Borough President Percy Sutton, who cast an ex-Black Panther turned Muslim businessman and lecturer as a key Obama mentor but whose story seems off in at least one key detail.

Sutton's story, told in what NY1 said was a March 25 interview, has been lighting up the conservative blogs for the last week.

Sutton, now in his late 80s and mostly off the public stage, told NY1's Dominic Carter that he was asked to write a letter of recommendation to Harvard Law School on Obama's behalf by a man named Khalid al-Mansour of Texas, "the principle adviser to one of the world's richest men" who was also "raising money for [Obama]."

Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt told Politico that "Obama did not know and does not know Khalid al-Mansour."

LaBolt said Obama doesn't have a relationship with Sutton and that "to our knowledge, no such letter was written." Obama was in Chicago, not New York, when he applied to Harvard.

The person to whom Sutton was apparently referring, al-Mansour, is a former Black Panther and an adviser to Saudi royalty who has produced, as Amanda Carpenter noted, some YouTube clips that would light up cable television if he's actually been close to Obama. He's also been quoted backing the Palestinian side in the Middle East conflict, though he has not been quoted supporting violence there. NewsMax's Kenneth Timmerman reported yesterday that he spoke to al-Mansour, who wouldn't comment on Sutton's story.

"Any statement that I made would only further this activity which is not in the interest of Barack," al-Mansour is quoted as saying.

Sutton's story is particularly difficult to follow at one point: that al-Mansour was "raising money" for Obama. Obama attended Harvard with the help of student loans, as the Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet reported in detail at one point, writing that he had $42,753 in debt.

I left messages for al-Mansour and for Sutton, but haven't heard back. Sutton, an eminence in Harlem politics, has not been well lately, people who know him said; I also left a message for his son.

Sutton supported Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary and was quoted saying of Obama at the time, "We don't know the other person in this election — we've never met him."

TOPICS: Crime/Corruption
KEYWORDS: 2008; blackliberation; blankpanthers; blt; election; electionpresident; elections; extremist; harvardgate; islam; khalidalmansour; mansour; mohammedanism; obama; obamatruthfile; racism; racist; radicals
Now why would Sutton, and Obama supporter, pull something like this out of thin air? And why wouldn't Khalid simply deny this instead of saying "Any statement that I made would only further this activity which is not in the interest of Barack"??

And why has there been zero interest in this story in the MSM, unlike the keen interest in whether Sarah Palin attended multiple colleges.

I would suspect the “was raising money for Obama” refers to the present. I don’t see any reason Percy Sutton should lie about having been asked to write this letter or the person who asked him to do so.

$42,753. What's that, like one semester (tuition + room & board) at Harvard?

What a hack this reporter is. What is difficult to follow about the concept that this former Panther could easily have been raising money for the Alinskyite group(s) from which Bambi did his community organizing?

I also agree that there is no reason to believe that Sutton just fabricated this story. IIRC, the videotape of Sutton's admission pre-dates Bambi's candidacy.

How did Obama get into Columbia?

What brought him to Chicago? Didn’t he grow up in Hawaii?

The MSM will do exactly what they did for the Rapist in 1992 - keep anything scandalous about Obambi out of the public eye...

There was so much moral and political sewage on Clinton in AR, most of it on the record in the AR Gazette and other credible sources. I was working for a guy from AR, who laughed when the Sink Emperor entered the race. He said there was so much baggage on Clinton, he didn't have a chance. He was a sleazy governor and a womanizer, like Gary Hart. He was sure Bubba was going to get the Gary Hart treatment. After Bubba became the nominee and actually won, he just shook his head and couldn't believe it.

Like a fool, I thought he was blowing smoke, Clinton couldn't have had all these scandals in his past and even rumors of infidelity. The media would have exposed Clinton.

Wow was I wrong, and the MSM will do the same for their golden boy, Obambi. Big difference now though, is that private 527 groups, & talk radio will try and get any negative about the Negro Messiah out there. Clinton was lucky in 1992, the MSM were able to hide all of Bubba’s sordid past from the people.

If Sutton wrote a letter to Harvard for Mansour, Sutton’s letter should be in Bambi’s school files. I don’t know what the practice is for archival material at Harvard for more recent students, but I do know that while researching a Civil War General, who attended Harvard University, and then Harvard Law School, the school archives had copies of a lot of stuff from his time there. They had photographs, copies of some of his papers, programs for student plays he performed in, newspaper articles about his law career, and finally, his obituary. Of course, knowing Harvard and Obama, whatever files are at the law school, they’re probably closed to the public and journalists.

....Yet the MSM feigns they are neutral while they ignore same, attack Palin and continue to suckle on the O-man nipple, and drink the warm Messiah milk of the chosen one.... until they can get him the Presidency.

Thanks for the ping. The reason why there’s zero interest, for the newbies among us, is because the MSM is in the tank for Obama, which is the usual case for any presidential election cycle in the last 30 years or so. They’re always behind whomever the democrats put forth. Not all of us have the bandwidth to go after these kinds of stories, so if the newbies want to sink their teeth into something, they could chase down loose ends on these kinds of items.

.

.

Here’s how I’ve been bumping Palin/Obama threads. Sung to the tune of “Oh! Susanna, don’t you cry for me.” .... “Oh, no Bama, please don’t lie to me... for I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.”

I come from Minnesota with my laptop on my knee; | I’m goin’ to Free Republic my true love for to see. | It rained all night the day I left, | the weather it was dry; | The sun so hot I froze to death, | Obama don’t you lie. | | Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me; | I come from Minnesota, with my laptop on my knee.

I had a dream the other night, | When everything was still; | I thought I saw Obama dear, | A-coming for The Hill. | The smearing lie was in Duluth, | The tear was in his eye, | Said I, I’m coming for the truth | Obama don’t you lie. | | Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me; | I’m off to Free Republic, | with my laptop on my knee.

I fight in my pajamas, | It’s plain for all to see. | I aim to be the next Buckhead; | The media all hate me. | I fell in love with Sarah | When my sister bit a moose. | The Guvnor’s family ate it up | And then they set it loose. | | Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me; | I’m off to Free Republic, | with my laptop on my knee.

She loves her sons, she likes her guns, | and Triggernometry. | The media will jump the shark | When Juan makes history. | Well, JimRob knows she’ll pave the trolls | So controversially, | And Berg will knock Obama down | With friends of Hillary. | | Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me; | I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.

I soon will be in Hawaii, | And then I’ll look all ‘round, | And when I find his birth record, | I’ll fall upon the ground. | But if I do not find it, | This Freeper’ll surely die, | And when I’m dead and buried, | Obama don’t you lie. | | Oh! No Bama, don’t you cry for me; | I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.

Here’s some more info on this story. Khalid al-Mansour a.k.a. Don Warden - spoke at colleges in the 80s, including Columbia (Obama supposedly attended prior to Harvard):

Obama Had Close Ties to Top Saudi Adviser at Early Age

Wednesday, September 3, 2008 5:58 PM

By: Kenneth R. Timmerman

New evidence has emerged that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was closely associated as early as age 25 to a key adviser to a Saudi billionaire who had mentored the founding members of the Black Panthers.

[snip]

Although many Americans have never heard of Khalid Abdullah Tariq al-Mansour (his full name), he is well known within the black community as a lawyer, an orthodox Muslim, a black nationalist, an author, an international deal-maker, an educator, and an outspoken enemy of Israel.

A graduate of Howard University with a law degree from the University of California, al-Mansour sits on numerous corporate boards, including the Saudi African Bank and Chicago-based LaGray Chemical Co. LaGray, which was formed to do business in Africa, counts former Nigerian President General Abdusalam Abubakar on its advisory board.

He also sits on the board of the non-profit African Leadership Academy, along with top McCain for President adviser Carly Fiorina, and organized a tribute to the President of Ghana at the Clinton White House in 1995, along with pop star Michael Jackson.

But his writings and books are packed with anti-American rhetoric reminiscent of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s disgraced former pastor.

In a 1995 book, “The Lost Books of Africa Rediscovered,” he alleged that the United States was plotting genocide against black Americans.

The first “genocide against the black man began 300 years ago,” he told an audience in Harlem at a book-signing, while a second “genocide” was on the way “to remove 15 million Black people, considered disposable, of no relevance, value or benefit to the American society.”

In the 1960s, when he founded the African American Association in the San Francisco Bay area, he was known as Donald Warden.

According to the Social Activism Project at the University of California at Berkley, Warden, a.k.a. Khalid al-Mansour, was the mentor of Black Panther Party founder Huey Newton and his cohort, Bobby Seale.

Newton later had a falling out with Warden, who was described in a 1994 book as “the most articulate spokesperson for black nationalism” at the time.

Instead, we get the scoop that one of Palin’s colleges had the nickname ‘Vandals’.

Wow, you are amazing. I hesitated before hitting Send, asking myself if I should say it was about one year’s tuition, rather than one semester.

Then I began to doubt, and added the part about room & board.

So, my main point is still in play. If he only had $42k in student loans, he got a lot of help from other sources. Scholarships, grants, etc.

FERPA regulations make all education history private, unless the student gives permission. Even if you’re the parent of a student AND even if you’re paying all the bills, you can’t get access to the student’s academic records.

The other day I was listening to Glenn Beck shortly after the Obama Convention. Beck said the entrance song they played for when Obama came in was from U2. I can't remember the exact lyrics, but it was something like "You don't know Me, or "You don't know who I am."

Is there anyone familiar with U2 who would know which one of their songs would have some lyrics similar to this? If so please post them.

Tony Rezko.

And back when I was in Chicago I found this to be very relevant to all of this sort of thing.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-tony-rezko-arrestedjan29,0,2985016.story

A few months later, prosecutors recently discovered, $3.5 million was wired from Lebanon. Much of the money wound up in the hands of Rezko friends and relatives who had put up their homes to secure his bond, limiting their financial risk if Rezko fled, prosecutors argued. Assistant U.S. Atty. Reid Schar called the financial maneuvering "a shell game."

Wayne Root, the Libertarian candidate for President, claims that he attended Columbia at the same time that Obama ( claims he ) did ; pre-law 1983.

Root claims neither he, or anyone else, remembers Obama attending Columbia that year. No one. Root says that he is not exaggerating.

They even did their 20 year reunion a few years back and Obama wasn't there.
