Media on the defensive over Sarah Palin coverage

NEW YORK -- News executives Thursday tried to shake off the excoriations of the media emanating from the Republican National Convention, defending their coverage of GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin as responsible and evenhanded.

______

"I really do take exception to it," NBC News President Steve Capus said. "These terms get thrown around in an awfully cavalier way, and they're incredibly damaging. We're in the business where words matter, and those are awfully, awfully strong accusations."

“media bias” is such an incredibly vicious term. We are talking about real people with real lives and livelihoods here. We ask that the Republicans and Senator John McCain take action to cease and desist this hate speech against America's free press!

You moron. Don’t you folks watch you own ‘reporters’ at the conventions cheering for obama and looking sad and depressed after Palin or McCain hit a homer? Or when those people diss Palin and McCain but never manage the same for obama? Or when they do a rectal exam on the Palin family but the obama family is off limits?

You CAN’T be that blind.

So, the conclusion is that you are doing it on purpose.

End of story.

interesting story on that linked page

http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/asection/la-na-plane5-2008sep05,0,550922.story

AK did not sell the airplane on eBay. Indeed it was listed there, but sold via different channel.

Ya gotta get to nearly the last paragraph before the author admits it was fiscally prudent to sell the aircraft, despite its regular use.

They attacked her with everything they had but it’s turning back at them. I heard this morning that over ten thousand subscribers canceled their subscriptions to US mag over their article and their front page full of lies about Gov. Sarah Palin.

This coming from the guy whose coverage of politics is headed by the Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews duo.

Note to Capus: Sorry pal, most of the rest of the world is in the business where DEEDS matter.

We are fighting for the life of our nation, and there are far too many out there who want to destroy us and what we represent, and who are emboldened by your "words". Get with us, or get away from us.

Besides, it's not an "accusation" if it's true.

That cracked me up when I saw that. The LA Slimes is pathetic. Palin's words were "I put it on Ebay." Period.

They then go on about how she implied it sold there. Okay, I guess it's implied if you're trying to find a scandal where there isn't one.

She said the aircraft was put on Ebay. It was put on Ebay. Oh, the nerve of her!!!!!!

When I get into any sort of political discussions, I listen for MSM “facts” being spouted by the opponent. I then ask where they got their information. They usually balk and stutter - meaning it’s CNN, ABC, etc. I then respectfully ask them to do their homework (e.g., look elsewhere than output from “journalism majors” ) before entering a discussion. I’m sick of the pretense of superiority being given off by these folks, who are not even capable of passing an elementary logic class.

Yes, I love how Fox, the one network out of what, ten or so that is somewhere between less leftist and neutral, is the one that gets an Obama visit to discuss fears of bias. Doh! If they WERE in the tank for McCain the overall tilt of the industry would still be dramatically Obama-ward, and THIS is the network we choose to look at for bias. Morons.

The press completely went off the deep end, and everyone in america knows it.

Even the most radically liberal annoyingly so guy I know, who is in your face with Fauxbama at every turn, admitted that the press attacking Palin’s daughter was completely unreasonable. He’s the type who would pull the leaver for Bozo the Clown if he was the D candidate, republicans are all inherently evil etc etc etc.

The press cannot remotely claim evenhandedness in how they handled this, and they will keep doing this, and eventually will have to actually start asking Fauxbama tough questions and when they do, he’ll blow up like he’s done every time he’s had to face serious questioning.

I don’t just mean boycotting the advertisers, I mean digging up dirt on the talking heads and execs and personally destroying them. I won’t be happy until these f$%king pieces of scum kill themselves out of shame.

"I'd like to thank the elite media for doing something that quite frankly I wasn't sure could be done: and that's unifying the Republican Party and all of America in support of Sen. [John] McCain and Gov. Palin," said former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to wild cheers in Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. "The reporting of the past few days has proved tackier than a costume change at a Madonna concert."

Say what you want about Huckabee, but this is a terrific quote.

I was actually pretty disappointed by the Fox commentator’s voice over at the end of the McCain speach last night. Talking about whether or not the balloons would drop rather than the speech itself, going on and on about the granduer of the DNC and basically saying this was nice “in its own way,” and just generally sounding haughtily disapproving.

I was gagging on Fox News as much as the other Liberal-biased BS networks. I turned to C-Span so I could watch the convention without throwing up from the BS. Bill O’Reilly interviewing Osama Obama during the convention was revolting. Hannity needs some cajones and needs to take lessons from Mark Levin, Rush and Roger Hedgecock.

"Aggressive criticism of the media is part of the political landscape. We expect it," said Russ Stanton, editor of the Los Angeles Times, adding that the paper's staff is "not guided by any devotion to parties or personalities."

That (a) is not true and (b) wouldn't be enough if it were true. I'll grant that some of them may not realize how much they are guided by ideology, but anyone who has read a few AP stories int he last few days knows that they are no longer able to distinguish between opinion and news.

CNN/U.S. President Jon Klein said the best way to combat the charges "is to continually do solid reporting."

Well, it would be nice if they tried a little "solid reporting". We haven't seen any from them in years.

The Lamestream Drive-bys have become a parody of themselves.

They are Democrats and they work for Democrat organizations. It would be naive to expect anything better of them.

When ever you talk to reporters from these organizations, you are talking to the enemy. I’d say better to learn to talk over the tops of them. Deliver your speech the way you want to, and ignore their stupid questions. Use radio, use internet, even use their media but make them discuss what you want to discuss or freeze them out.

They’ll attack you if you do that, but they will also attack you if you don’t. They are going to attack you if you are breathing. So make them cover you, but don’t feed their stupid “narrative”. If you find reporters who are fair, or news organizations who are fair, give them access. No one else.

Dear Alphabet news services (NBC,CBS,CNN,ABC),

Palin's message was from the heart of the _real_ American people. Your news is so tainted, socialist, politically correct, pro-Democratic, that even the lowly are sick of it.

There is very little news but plenty of hiding the truth and mis-leading on important issues.

Don't tell that to my editing in Journalism teacher. He had me subscribe to Poynter (news think tank) RSS feed by Romensko and the New York times for my class. If people were not consuming media before the class (i.e. Fox news or other non-MSM media) then they are going to be sucked in so quick (If they weren't already so, a lot come in liberal... actually I did too... so there is hope). I Love the guy, but I hate that it seems most of the people in my department are so left-wing.

ABC, CBS, & NBC/MSNBC, CNN are all nazijournalists with the NYT, LAT, and Chicago Tribune as enablers to their cause. They resent being called what they really are because it will lose them more and more eyeballs and that means less money for them to spew forth their unmitigated lies and filth. I say “good riddance to bad rubbish!” and can't wait for their collective folded tents to crush them all. Other than that, they are o.k.! :0 )

Fox is highly over-rated by the average Freeper. They may be my top choice as far as MSM goes, but thats not saying much. They are into sensationalism and hype, and in my opinion, are only conservative leaning because they know that was the untapped market. Other than Hume, the rest of them can bugger off.

Like “balance” is defined as all Marxism, all the time. So inconsistent with logic and the reality of the rest of the business it just pisses me off.

Macs have been taken over by the News industry because of the Apple culture and due to the computers being attacked in the news networks due to viruses. I actually think they had a good point when getting them. Despite all the pride and arrogance like commercials of Macs, they really do work well. This coming from a known computer abuser (my friends still can’t believe my computer is alive).
