DEM OPERATIVE EYES HILLARY STATE FOR MCCAIN
NY Post ^ | 9/5/08 | Cindy Adams

Posted on 09/05/2008 1:00:35 PM PDT by LdSentinal

ST. PAUL - Hillary Clinton and her roommate, the former president, make a pit stop next month in Penn sylvania. An important state for a candidate to win, this was Hillary territory. She took Scranton like Grant took Richmond. Hillary heads there again the second week of October for the Methodist equivalent of a christening. The baby is Simon Rodham. The daddy, her brother Tony Rodham. The Clintons will houseguest with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Brazil. Former president of her brother's company, Jamie has a big smile, big house, big wristwatch, beautiful blond wife with big jewelry and biiiig wallet.

Also a big Democratic outreach. His current occupation is political consultant.

I learned this from Jamie himself. And where were we when he told me all this? Deep in McCain McCountry listening to Sarah Palin. Sandwiched together in one of McCain's VIP skyboxes. The one next to us belonged to the senator's campaign manager Rick Davis. Ours belonged to the candidate's adviser Carly Fiorina. Jamie and I were a Coke bottle away from Henry Kissinger. We're talking folks who've been Republican since their first trimester.

So what's a Dem operative doing there?

"We're going to take Pennsylvania for McCain," Jamie said. "We'll win by 3 percent. We'll get Hillary supporters. The undecideds. From the coal region. Blue dog areas like Lackawanna, where it's 2-1 Democratic. We'll break into that."

I suddenly realized this McCain skybox was filled with Democratic types. Like closeted gays, one whispered: "Don't mention our names. We're not 'out' yet."

I guess this is their answer to the real thing, Sarah Palin.

Of all people, Hillary’s brother? LOL

If McCain takes PA (and I’m still skeptical, because of the Philly machine), it’s just about equal to a stake through the heart for Obama.

I am not skeptical in the least, I have lived in PA now for over 20 years, I said months ago this state was his.

Palin just makes it that much more of a certanity, McCain will take PA.

McCain wrapped up PA beyond any question with is speech last night.

Word is already out on the street in PA to those with their ear to the ground. I'm betting Rendell is in on this too--he's a huge Hillary guy and has been publicly critical of Barry O of late. If Rendell decides that Barry loses PA, Barry loses PA. It's as simple as that. All he has to do is put the brakes on the fraud machine in Philadelphia and few Democrats will ever win statewide in PA.

And the final touch--#1 rated Philadelphia sports radio host Howard Eskin was out there boosting McCain on his show yesterday. He's an unreconstructed Democrat usually who has about as much love for Republicans as he does Cowboy fans.

If he's pumping for McCain, he got the order from someone higher up that Obama needs to have his legs cut out from under him. Eskin supporting McCain will give a lot of the blue-collar union guys in Philly the cover they need to vote McCain.

Hillary will do the token support for Fauxbama, but that’s it. She knows he’s a lost cause and she’s the 2012 frontrunner after this schlub and the Goebbelesque propoganda campaign the MSM has been running for him are left a smoldering carcass on the ash heap of history.

I can never make any freaking sense of the snarky, coded, old-lady, gibberish language Cindy writes in.

It doesn't matter what the hell she's saying anyway. McCain will pick up Pennsylvania, no matter what Hillary's brother's baby's dog does with Karly Jamie Kissinger in Simon Tony McCain's VIP skybox somewhere.

I’ve tried to tell people that don’t live in PA that Fauxbama never ever had a chance here. The Blue Dogs will reject him completely. McCain had this state won before the primaries were over.

Yes, I know the polls don’t show it, but trust me on this. McCain will win PA, I am not saying it will be a landslide victory, but he will win this state.

War Hero, straight talker, experienced, military man vs used car salesman with a pr campaign... not even a contest. McCain takes PA, not even up for debate.

Hillary will do the bare minimum for Obama, and her appearances will actually hurt him more than help.

Every time she appears, a lotta people in the crowd are gonna be wondering why she's not the VP.

Every campaign stop will make it more obvious that she was passed over.

People who actually turn out for Hillary are only gonna realize she got s##!wed.

Obama will eventually, and quietly, tell her not to campaign anymore because it's hurting his numbers.

He’ll take PA, I have never doubted it. I know the polls don’t show it, but I know this state, and McCain is going to do very very well here. I am not saying it will be a complete landslide, but he will win.

This election was over the minute Fauxbama was the nominee.. its just a bunch of libs and bush haters haven’t realized it yet. Fight hard, don’t take anything for granted, but short of a McCain senior moment, or Palin falling apart in a debate, or some giant geopolitical event that no one can predict, McCain will win, and win by a large margin this election.

It won’t be a 49 state to 1 in the EC, but it will not be the 1 to 3 percent close race the pundents are talking about.

I am going out a limb here. Hillary Clinton never realized she didn’t have to work so hard. Hillary was never safe in her skin as a woman. I have to wonder who made her feel this way.

Remember her saying she did the”spadework”? It was not a racist statement. It was a liberal woman saying that she did what she had to do to work her way through the ranks in the NAGworld.

Feel kind of sorry for her. She never realized that she didn’t have to wear pantsuits and act angry. She had all the tools of every other woman . She was trapped in the Marxist world that denied her femininity and real success.

Palin is what Hillary wanted and will never get. Thats what happens when you hitch your wagon to the left. Always wanting, never getting.

Folks, I lived in Philly (NE) for over 30 years. McCain will take lead in PA soon. Outside of the inner hoods, the NE and burbs in Philly will go solid for McCain/Palin. Why? Because this isn’t Gore / Kerry - it’s “OBAMA”. Those folks will NOT do the grass-roots/union push that it will take to bring in the white vote for OBAMA. Obama can count for heavy black vote, but the truth of the matter is that this equation will not work this time around.

Hillary has a tightrope to walk. She has to look like she is doing a solid job for Obama...she can’t come right out and say what the truth is....the Clintons want Obama to lose so HRC can run in 2012...but I suspect some of the Clinton big wigs will be working backchannel, and HRC will try and do the bare minimum without ticking off the Dem party.

I wouldn’t be shocked to see Big Bill make a couple more “oops” comments.

Pennsylvania elections are a contest of counting dead people and pets registered to vote in Philadelphia vs the rest of the state.

If McCain wins PA, its over.

You could be right. I moved out of PA about 20 years ago. But I called my 81 year old, died-in-the-wool Democrat mother after Palin was named. She’s voting Republican for the first time in her life (and she never misses a vote). She’s lukewarm to McCain but loves Sarah.

Hey, I’m from the Northeast too around Welsh and the Boulevard, A. Lincoln HS (I live in San Diego now though). They put Biden on the ticket to nail down PA —Delaware is in the Philly TV market—which looked like a defensive posture. The Clintons will make the appropriate noises—while they’re selling Barry out—but Rendell’s not even doing that.

Interesting. On Wednesday night convention, there was a section waving orange flags. Then J McCain came in after Sarah's speech, wearing an orange tie. I eavesdropped on the hillbot site that night and they thought the flags were their people and that John was wearing the tie for the pumas.

Way too much backslapping in this thread.

The Obama operatives are all over the PA situation, and the VA situation.

The core reality of the race from now until . . . about October 30 is that McCain MUST NOT build a big lead.

If he does, the DNC will move Hillary onto the ticket, in either position. A McCain victory has to be arranged to be close, or it won’t happen at all.
