Small-town residents boo media with McCain
The Washington Times ^ | September 5, 2008 | Joe Curl

Posted on 09/06/2008 7:01:07 AM PDT by Puzzleman

Hundreds of angry people in this small town outside Milwaukee taunted reporters and TV crews traveling with Sen. John McCain on Friday, chanting "Be fair!" and pointing fingers at a pack of journalists as they booed loudly...

The media bias issue, like drilling, has legs if skillfully handled.

Most Americans realize that media bias isn’t fantasy, it’s solid fact.

"Stop lying! You are all liars! Tell the truth!" one woman yelled from the front of the pack.

The crowd was not menacing or threatening, but was clearly angry.

BWAHAHA! Hey MSM, That's America talking to YOU!

Telling them that to their faces is a good start. A good finish is to hit them where it counts in their pocketbook. Don’t buy slanted magazines or newspapers or watch the likes of CNN and MSNBC.

Why is it that small town America has a better sense of fairness than the big cities???
Is it because one often knows or at least recognises the people around them?

The media has it coming, IMO.
This weekend- not last weekend right after Nobama’s convention- the Sunday talking heads are overwhelming the airwaves with all Nobama all the time. Why didn’t they interview him right after his own convention and his great Grecian styrofoam columns Hollywood set? Why not interview McCain and Palin this weekend?

Oh- wait- how stupid of me...the “non-biased” media will do anything to take away McCain and Palin’s thunder.

Too late ABC/NBC/et al. Thunder has arrived.

I had to listen to the Diane Rhem show on NPR this week and was astounded by the defense of the media given by USA TODAY’s Susan Page and the WAPO’s Anne Kornblut.

They both said that, when the Palin selection was announced, the “media” just didn’t have any information on her.

Diane is usually incisive, but fell down on the job by not following up with this question:

DIANE: But why is that, Susan Page? As A Republican over 2 years ago she forced the head of the Alaska GOP to resign his commission seat because of conflict of interest. As a young GOP candidate she beat a sitting Republican Governer in his own Primary. As Governor, she put the Gov’s airplane up for sale on EBay. These were all covered by the Alaska press and even sent over the AP wires. Whay did your newspapers not follow up on any of these “tips” that a new political star had risen. It seems to me that, if the media had no idea who she was, it was because of your own fault in not covering the life and dedication of a dynamic, conservative woman.

You can bet that at some level, the Obama campaign is having conversations with leading media figures to try to find a strategy so they can have both ways. In other words, pretend to be fair.

That is truly the only way to influence them. Incidents like this one, where they are hooted at and rebuked, only reinforces the reporters' attitudes that "flyover country" is full of ignorant bumpkins who "don't get it". Once they're safely back in the arms of the Drive-By offices, they get their echo-chamber reinforcement and ego-stoking.

On the other hand, as "Us" magazine learned, refuse to buy their tripe and they may listen.

Oh this is great!!!!! I hope it keeps up all through the next 60 days!!! I definitely see the media trying to back off a bit but the damage has been done. EVERYONE knows that Obama/Biden have got a pass on any unfavorable light yet McCain/Palin have been constantly slaughtered! Even having Obama on Time magazine for the 7th time this year and McCain 2 times....OPRAH not allowing McCain/Palin and yet obama twice!!! Enough....it is refreshing to see the sleeping voters fighting back. We will fight back in the voting booth and show the media as much as they have tried...we the people want fairness...fairness in reporting and this has been far too slanted way too long!!!!

Alaska is “Out There”, somewhere, and not a big enough market to care about.

Besides, she doesn’t attend DC cocktail parties that journalists go to, so why should they care about her, anyway??

Not only has MSM hurt the Dems this election but the Hollywood loud-mouths that think the American people really look up to their decision making and want to vote like them. NOT!! A six pack of beer says that these people will be painted as small-minded, reactionary (possibly racist) boobs who cling to guns and religion.

That being said, don’t look for the MSM to have an ephifany any time soon. Yes, the MSM is shrinking, but this is due to technology (e.g., the Internet)—technology is independent of ideology. In terms of ideology, their “market” has actually grown as there are more liberals in the country than ever before (either raw numbers or percentage wise). The NY Times may shrink, but it will never die—it will just evolve.

Also, whoever wins the election, the Left is WINNING the argument because more people look to Government to ease their pain, no matter whose responsibility it is.

The media bias issue did not start with Sarah. Many people have become increasingly sick of the media as they have watched its one-sided reporting throughout the Bush years, particularly with regard to Iraq and Katrina.

Something more people are thankfully beginning to realize.

Four years ago we realized that Hollywood didn’t give a tinkers damn about their country. We accepted it as a general view, but it wasn’t until 2004 that we became infuriated to the point of getting away from all of it and waking up to their immaturity and delusions of political grandeur and relevance.

Now the press is next. The liberal worms are doing us a new favor every four years now.

This is great news and long overdue. The frauds in the MSM need to have their bias and dishonesty thrown in their faces at every opportunity. And prominent conservatives need to throw it right in the faces when talking to the MSM, as Newt did at the convention.

All too many in the media are nothing but sleaze and they should be treated like sleaze, in a nice way, of course.

What is needed are signs like “Be Fair” and “Drive-By Media” start appearing at these rallies. When reporters are doing their standups for for their live-shots, they need to be on camera in the background.

I’d love to see a few outside the window during the Today show outside shots. Let them help us spread the word.

Don’t buy slanted magazines or newspapers or watch the likes of CNN and MSNBC.

This is EXACTLY the tactic I have taken these past 15 or so years. I do not buy newspapers, news type magazines or even watch their TV shows. I DO NOT even visit their web sites to give them the hits. I will not freep polls on MSNBC, CNN, etc., because I will not give them the hits. Screw the MSM. Now they KNOW that we KNOW they are bias to the Marxist Dimocrats and will not take it any more. The EXACT reason I don't watch is so they cannot get favorable ratings. I will not assist them in destroying me and my way of life!!!

The American people should just stop buying any news papers or magazines. Most of them have nothing but lies in them..I for one am getting tired of all this..We know that the Obama voters can't read and spend their money on drugs and abortions and buy few papers if any.So those of us that read these garbage papers should stop buying them. Then all of them will have to close their doors..Same with the TV people if you see any of these morons down this country or our president or our candidate just change the channel..then those networks will go down the tubes..Until we do that we will still have these reporters telling nothing but lies..about good people..
