This morning, Republicans tell me that a worker at Invesco Field in Denver saved thousands of unused flags from the Democratic National Convention that were headed for the garbage. Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Before McCain speaks today, veterans will haul these garbage bags filled with flags out onto the stage — with dramatic effect, no doubt — and tell the story.
“What you see in the picture I sent you is less than half of total flags,” a Republican official emailed. “We estimate the total number to be around 12,000 small flags and one full size 3×5 flag.”
I’m not sure what the DNC was supposed to do with unused hand-flags, frankly. But the Republicans are obviously questioning someone’s patriotism here.

Guess they should have thought about that when they disposed the flags like all their unwanted babies. (yes, that was harsh. Sorry about that.)

They should have this picture on the screen in Denver when they haul out the bags of flags.
Okay, *maybe* I can see that they would trash the smaller ones (maybe). But a 3x5 flag? WTH are those pinkos thinking!?
Yes, I question their patriotism. Anyone who doesn’t feel something wrong about throwing away a full sized flag has some serious hate for this country, or even worse — just doesn’t care.
And at a political convention nonetheless. There are just so many things they get wrong. If they didn’t have the DBM, these guys would never win a single election outside of San Fransisco.

The Obama campaign could have donated them to a COMMUNITY ORGANIZER to use on flag day or independence day.
I am sure they could have found an experienced COMMUNITY ORGANIIZER somewhere amongst the crowd...

When the camera went off...they just tossed them right on the floor and walked out on them...
Had I been at the GOP convention ...ANYTHING I had gotten from there would be a priceless momento I would keep with pride and show off....
I bet when they hand the flags out they had to hand out latex gloves as well....so the enlightened would not have to actually touch a flag...

The American flag is a prop for the Dems — nothing more!
I save everything from events including the flags that are handed out. I would never throw a flag away.
