After her misadventure last week on the live mic- I know more about her than I ever wanted.

She lost my respect and my trust. Even while I often disagreed with her view- I read her pretty regularly.

Sorry Peggy, you’ve shown yourself.

It’s indeed a common term in Christian culture, although the exact phrase is not from one specific Bible verse. It is commonly used to describe someone who selflessly serves others, primarily to obey and please the Lord.

However, Christians strive to be like Jesus who “came not to be served, but to serve” (Matthew 20:28) and who washed his disciples feet at the last supper to role model how they are to serve one another after he returns to the Father (John 13).

as noted, it’s a pro-abortion fundraising mechanism for female Democrat candidates .. no one’s heard of them for 20 years. so they took a poll, likely of their donors, showing that women don’t support Palin. NOW’s poll probably shows the same thing. It’s comical, really.

I believe it might be because Jesus Christ told the twelve that if they wanted to be the greatest, they must be the servant of all.

Not a bad way to lead.

I’m shocked that it’s not 100% of the EMILY’s list against Palin.

This means that even a good number of liberal feminist women like her.

When she used that phrase my husband and I looked at each other and said, “Wonder how many know where that comes from”. Our pastor uses it often.

Peggy paddled too far into the deep end, realized it, and is now trying desperately to paddle back to where the water is not over her head.

If Palin has 45% approval on Emily's List—in spite of her strong pro-life convictions—then her appeal among women voters must be quite powerful indeed.

I took it as a reference to our Lord, and to the passage from Scripture which He read from the scroll in the Temple at Nazareth (Luke 4:18-19). The passage is from Isaiah 61:1 "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, and proclaim freedom to the captives, and release from darkness to the prisoners."

I don't think she is suggesting McCain is like Jesus--but that he knows what it is like to be a prisoner "released from darkness" into true freedom--which only comes from the sacrifice of the Servant God annointed to bring us the Gospel.

At least that was what immedieately came to mind when I listened to that part of the speech--and it really touched my heart.

this campaign, this beautiful golden thing with two admirable men at the top and two admirable vice presidential candidates, is going to turn dark.

John McCain also made a speech. It was flat.

You know, if some people would actually listen without immediately categorizing everything they hear into slots in their agenda . . . and then if some people would quit exaggerating about the candidates. But then this IS the press media we're talking about, the nearly extinct subspecies of humanity who places her/his own spin on the printed word to make it seem something it's probably not.

Not that I like camera phones or video phones, BUT they can be used to document the truth of a situation which in words could be construed differently. YouTube is now the place to go to observe history in the making. I'm glad I'm not a text writer trying to write about US History (or world history for that matter). Daunting job. However, without access to YouTube would we have documentation of Biden's Gaffes and Obama's Outright Lies?

John McCain's speech was fine as I listened to it, and I loved the audience's "USA" shouts as the "protesters" were being removed. But then he had an audience who already supported him, and so did Obama during his caliphation/pontification.

“It is starting to look to me like a nation-defining election. And in this it seems almost old-fashioned. 1992 for instance didn’t seem or feel nation-defining, not as I remember it, nor did 2000. 1964 did, and ‘80 did, but they both ended in landslides. Landslide is not what I’m seeing here.”

Where to begin. For one thing the polling data and the decisions both candidates are making about where to campaign as of early September are certainly not inconsistent with a landslide in favor of McCain. If she’s not seeing that she needs make a date with her optometrist.

For another thing, isn’t Palin just part of the Republicans’ bullshit narrative. I think that’s how Peggy described it the other night. Narratives were much on her mind then, but not apparently when she wrote this WSJ piece.

And finally, what can you say about this:

Maybe it sounded flat. I didn’t listen to McCain but I read his words and they were more moving than anything I ever read by Noonan. I think reading was how most people got Lincoln’s speeches in his day. I wonder if his delivery was flat too.

Peggy, there is some kind of rehab for just about every human affliction. Maybe it’s time for some spiritual rehab.

She is right on one point. It is war. What Sarah did in that speech in which she never mentioned 0bama’s name was to objectify him and his celebrity campaign. She took the celebrity, messiah effect and squashed it.

While we liked McCain's ad about 0bama’s celebrity standing with the left...it didn't quite hit the mark.

Sarah took the first rule of combat to objectify your opponent. 0bama effectively made the object and not the bigger than life personality could be dealt the blows Sarah needed to deliver.
