Is Sarah Palin the new Dick Cheney? (Projectile vomit alert)
LA Times ^ | 9/7/2008 | Johanna Neuman

Posted on 09/07/2008 6:27:08 AM PDT by markomalley

Of course Sarah Palin is much cuter than Dick Cheney. As the must-have Republican political button from St. Paul put it: "Hottest VP from Coldest State."

And it sounds like she's better with a gun than the vice president, who accidentally shot a friend while on a hunting trip in South Texas.

But lots of folks are beginning to draw a parallel between Cheney, with his secret meetings on energy policy, and Palin, the pistol-packing soccer Mom who took on -- and beat -- the political establishment in Alaska.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, in an interview today with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, calls Palin a "skilled politician" but says his rival Republican John McCain "chose somebody who may be even more aligned with George Bush -- or Dick Cheney -- or the politics we've seen over the last eight years -- than John McCain himself is."

And last week on the same program, John Kerry, the Democrats' 2004 presidential nominee, said Palin is a member of the "flat earth caucus" whose views of climate change are reminiscent of Vice President Cheney.

"With the choice of Gov. Palin, it's now the third term of Dick Cheney, because what he's done is he's chosen somebody who actually doesn't believe that climate change is man-made," said Kerry, who also called Palin "Cheney-esque" in her views of social issues.

How is Sarah Palin different from Barak Obama?

One is pretty and inexperienced and the other kills her own food.

The country could do much worse than a third term of Dick Cheney. For instance any term of Obama or Biden.

“She’s also a better driver than Teddy Kennedy”

Excellent point — I’m 100% positive that Governor Sarah Palin’s guns have killed less American’s than Teddy Kennedy (oooppss, Teddy Kennedy’s car). So much for tolerance - from the tolerance party.

“According to Michelle Malkin (March 8, 2001), ex-Klansman Robert Byrd, the senior senator from West Virginia, casually used the phrase “white insert n word here” twice on national TV this weekend. Enraged civil rights groups organized a protest campaign against Sen. Byrd and demanded that he undergo sensitivity training ... not.

The ex-Klansman, you see, is a Democrat. Democrats can join hate groups and utter the ugliest racial slurs and get away with it because they are Democrats. They belong to the party of racial tolerance and understanding. They’re paragons of virtue, and the rest of us are bigoted rubes.

The ex-Klansman showed his true colors when asked by Fox News Sunday morning talk show host Tony Snow about the state of race relations in America. Sen. Byrd warned: “There are white insert n word here. I’ve seen a lot of white insert n word here in my time. I’m going to use that word. We just need to work together to make our country a better country, and I’d just as soon quit talking about it so much.”

The ex-Klansman, famed for Beltway blowhardism, should have quit talking a lot sooner. Why any prominent politician in his right mind would publicly and deliberately use the poisonous epithet “insert n word here” — which most daily newspapers refuse to spell out, no matter the context — is beyond comprehension. It’s an open question as to whether the rant-prone, 83-year-old Byrd is even in his right mind, but senility doesn’t excuse bigotry.

The ex-Klansman’s admirers praise his historical knowledge, mastery of procedural rules, and outspokenness. They refer to the Senate’s senior Democrat as the “conscience of the Senate.” They downplay his white-sheet-wearing days as a “brief mistake” — as if joining the Klan were like knocking over a glass of water. Oopsy.

This ex-Klansman wasn’t just a passive member of the nation’s most notorious hate group. According to news accounts and biographical information, Sen. Byrd was a “Kleagle” — an official recruiter who signed up members for $10 a head. He said he joined because it “offered excitement” and because the Klan was an “effective force” in “promoting traditional American values.” Nothing like the thrill of gathering ‘round a midnight bonfire, roasting s’mores, tying nooses, and promoting white supremacy with a bunch of your hooded friends.”

Sssssooooooo, what I think Michelle is saying is, that unless you get drunk, drive your car off a bridge and kill an American, attend a church where your Rev. espouses anti-American and anti-American Values, become a lesbian, abort an unborn fetus and use the N word — you’re not welcome in the modern Dem party...well isn’t that a fine how-do-ya-do.

Yes, the MSM is still at it this morning. They are so stupid, they’re actually helping McCain win this thing. Keep it up losers. They think Palin is actually afraid to go on their stupid Sunday talk shows. That’s the latest. They were even talking about how she went to 3 different colleges to get her degree. The MSM is gutter filth and they’re upset that Sarah has called them out and exposed them for the biased DNC shills they are.

That was 2001. The hysteria over “a certain word beginning with N” has only increased since then. He was making a valid point that the word describes a certain type of person and not necessarily a race, and using the concept of the wigga as an example. He did get in trouble for doing it too.

Yes. Gore says it too. He said in an interview recently that “those people are in such a tiiiny, tiiiny minority that they rank with those who claim that the moon landings were faked, or those that claim the earth is flat.”

“The only thing Sarah Palin shares with Hillary is a chromosome” (Gloria Steinem)

“Sarah Palin is the new Dick Cheney” (LA Times)

Thanks for the nice compliments, one and all!! LOL

“If Byrd were a Republican”

Stop right there...precisely...that was Michelle’s point.

Which is the basis for the outrage over the treatment of Governor Palin...if a Republican were to be saying and writing about hilary — what the lamestreammedia is saying about Governor Palin...I’m mean really. Really.

The liberals/dimwits in this country would be losing their minds by now. But, instead the attack is masqueraded off as “journalism.”

My family and I were going to head down to the mall in DC today to visit the monument in honor of those journalists that have died defending America, freedom, and democracy around world — we’re back — there wasn’t one.

Apparently those monuments are reserved for actual hero’s that have actually defended America, freedom, and democracy around the world.

But I digress...

If they mean that she's going to be utterly and totally reviled by the left without anyone being able to articulate a sensible reason for it, ... then maybe she is yeah.

But I don't imagine that's what they meant.

I saw this mildly retarded black woman on FoxNews mumbling incoherent thoughts on why Sarah Palin is horrible. One of the few sentences I could even understand was "Sarah Palin is the female Dick Cheney!"

They cut immediately to Ben Stein and asked him to comment. He was actually flustered like his brain was trying to wrap itself around the utter idiocy it just heard. He was just laughing and rolling his eyes.

When this idiotic line of attack fails to get any traction, it'll be on to Plan Q.

She's going to be a transvestite scientologist tax-dodger soon.

More important is their conservative voting record including there number one issue abortion. I have heard it said regularly in criticism of the VP that his voting record showed that he even voted against abortion even in the case of life of the mother. I am not sure this is correct but I would suspect it was more likely health which we all know is a completely different issue but the dems never bother with the truth anyway.
