People should have one meat-free day a week if they want to make a personal and effective sacrifice that would help tackle climate change, the world's leading authority on global warming has told The Observer
Dr Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which last year earned a joint share of the Nobel Peace Prize, said that people should then go on to reduce their meat consumption even further.
His comments are the most controversial advice yet provided by the panel on how individuals can help tackle global warning.

It was just a matter of time . . .
Good thing I ate a bacon Cheeseburger before this came out...
I refuse to eat anything without a face!
NoGrayZone Says UN Should Shut Up And Get Out Of Her Country. Story developing......
me thinks I’ll do a rib eye steak today
7 billion people eating beans for protein sources will not bode well for global warming either. How do I know? My ex fiancee begged for me to eat meat because she couldn’t handle my vegan flatus.
I suggest eating more UN diplomats. That would curb more hot air than anything else of equal volume.
It’s just Aaother Modest Proposal

Ping me if you find one I've missed.
Well, I was goin to make a chaf salad for dinner tonight (although my salads contain bacon, ham and turkey hehe) — but now I think a Rib Eye on the grill (with lots of SMOKE into the atmosphere), a baked potato and corn on the cob is in order. :-)
I say we put Dr Rajendra Pachauri, the IPCC and the UN member delegates on a Fast of 1 week every month. If they can maintain this for a year, we will consider reducing our meat consumption.
I’m a “meatatarian”!
Which is fine, given there is NO MAN MADE GLOBAL WARMING!

>Dr Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which last year earned a joint share of the Nobel Peace Prize, said that people should then go on to reduce their meat consumption even further.<
So how does this work with Ted Nugent, for example, who eats meat from animals he has hunted? Why does this reduce global warming, if people are eating game?
1. Since global warming is a myth, and. . .
2. With no sunspots indicating a probable Mini-Ice Age , that can mean we CAN do something to save the planet: double portions of meat with every meal.
3. Meat: it's what pisses liberals off. .
mmm....
They have taken care of everything, from the thoughts you think to the songs you sing.
Sounds like we actually need to QUICKLY eat MORE meat to get rid of all those “methane factories”
Sigh!! The “Nobel Peace Prize” meant something, once upon a time.
Third time posted on Free Republic’s front page. As this is not news, the news must be slow today?
More junk science from the mindless Left. Who the hell is Dr Rajendra Pachauri and what are his credentials to speak about climate ?
I’m so sick of all of this.
Isn’t “mindless left” redundant?
Ron White, the comedian’s line was: If cow flatulance was causing global warming, he was doing what he could to stop it, by eating beef. But he was only one man and could only eat so much himself, one cow at a time.
I had my triple whopper with cheese yesterday and proud of it. Of course I did over an hour of cardio later...
More meat and CO2 increases!
Juiceahh!
Weren't they an evil enemy on one of the original Star Trek episodes?
Shouldn’t we be eating MORE beef to eliminate those global polluters?
Yummy yummy, 2 lbs of steak in my tummy!
Of interest:
I saw a thread on DU about Dutch scientist that claimed they could “grow” meat on a laboratory. “Frankenmeat”
Well Every Vegan on DU admitted that they crave meat and that they only are vegans because they cant bear the thought of “bambi” dying.
They all agreed that “Frankenmeat” was appealing and would snarfle it down in a heartbeat.
Funny, I find the thought repulsive.. and they find the natural way repulsive.
Liberals are deeply conflicted
I have always thought that most vegetarians crave moral superiority, but don’t agree with one or more of the ten commandments.
“However, he also stressed other changes in lifestyle would help to combat climate change. ‘That’s what I want to emphasise: we really have to bring about reductions in every sector of the economy.’”
Keep it up guys. Let the cats out of the bag about exactly what changes in lifestyles will be mandatory to combat global warming.
Once the people find out exactly what the global bureacracy will require in order to ‘reduce the possibility that the world will be slightly warmer in 100 years’, the quicker this globalony BS will be over.
Yummy, yummy, 2 lbs of steak in my tummy!
EAT MORE MEAT...it drives PETA peeants nuts...
Hey, UN.. I only eat meat once a week now, and it is getting colder already! Don’t really know what would happen if I eliminate one more day. Do you suppose the democrat hell would freeze over?
If methane is 23 times "more effective as gw agent" than CO2, then conversely CO2 is 23 times LESS effective as a gw agent. So then why are they focusing on CO2, wanting to wreck the US economy to reduce CO2 emissions? And why aren't they supporting nuclear energy, where the reactors do not emit any CO2 or any other "green house gases", occupy a very small "environmental footprint" (unlike windmill farms and solar farms, where you have to cover a huge area to get anything worthwhile)
Their answer to everything is to CONTROL people, NOT to actually solve a problem, IF there is problem.
I guess we should all just go back to the stone age and eat berries off the trees, so we won't cause global warming.
There’s plenty of room for all of God’s creatures.....right next to the mashed potatoes!
But eating meat sold in supermarkets may be mistake. I used to be a big meat eater. I love big, thick, juicy BBQ steaks and still do.
Then I had a severe stroke that left me paralyzed and disabled. After a very long recovery and years of rehab, my son turned me on to eating raw, fresh veggies. I switched to eating a diet that is almost meat free and using only hormone free milk . . .
Now my BP is 120/70 and my resting heart rate is between 52 and 62. I get out and walk every day for about two hours. There is hope for everybody who wants to improve their life.
Last month I learned something from somebody I respect about the meat departments of most grocery stores. He works for a very large food store chain. He told me that about four years ago he discovered the chain had made new arrangements for disposing of old cardboard boxes. Trucks pick them up for free and haul them away.
Then he told me this outfit shreds the old boxes. Even the heavily wax covered produce boxes are throw into the shredder. The company sprays them with growth hormone and mixes them with other 'garbage food' products: This concoction is sold to ranchers who feed this toxic mishmash to cattle and dairy cows.
The Dept of Agriculture, Meat Inspectors and FDA close their eyes to what is going on.
There is a reason why Americans are so incredibly fat: Growth hormones fed to the animals we love to eat. Now you know why Japan, S. Korea and Europe are banning meat from the U.S. Now you know why they are so p@ssed off at our meat industry.
Don't take my word for it, do some research on your own. I still love good steaks. But I eat only the best prime, range fed beef. And I have cut back on my meat intake dramatically.
Cheers !
M00se M00se!
People should never eat meat. Ever since I have become a vegetarian, I have felt wonderful. I never get sick and I have lost weight. I became a vegetarian because I feel sorry for the poor animals. Every time I hear about a meat recall, I wonder how anyone could eat meat.

I'm shutting up now.
Obviously, the entree at all UN events should be rice and beans.
Until these champagne socialists practice what they preach, they have no business telling anyone how to live.
That settles it. I just took some steaks out of the freezer for dinner tonight.
Think I’ll grill some steaks this evening. Should be lovely out on the deck.
