Now that Sarah Palin has burst onto the national scene, Americans may be wondering:
As governor of Alaska, what kind of leader has she been?
In our view, Sarah Palin has been very effective -- surprisingly so, considering her previous leadership experience was as mayor of a town with about 6,000 people.
THREE BIG SUCCESSES
As governor, she has focused almost exclusively on a handful of high-priority issues -- ethics, oil tax reform and state incentives for building a natural gas pipeline. And she has had dramatic success. With Gov. Palin leading the way, the Legislature passed strong legislation on all three fronts. On two of those issues, she had to take on Alaska's previously all-powerful oil industry. Twice she easily defeated them.
Palin has a knack for the populist gesture, and Alaskans know it's sincere, not just for show. She pledged to sell Gov. Murkowski's state jet -- and she did. She drives herself to work. She found other duties for the chef at the governor's mansion. Palin is the only major political figure in the past 20 years who regularly comes to Daily News editorial board meetings by herself, with no flunkies or handlers.
Gov. Palin is not the kind of leader who gets bogged down in minutia and works 100-hours a week. Instead, she uses her charisma and a simple, clear vision to mobilize mass support for her agenda, then leaves the details and heavy lifting to others.
"Palin racked up her legislative victories even though her allies in the Legislature criticized her lobbying effort."

"She delegates much of the detail work and spends little time on second-tier subjects."
"She has a fervent sense of what's right and what's wrong and has little concern for political consequences."
"She had no sense of how continuing to push her concerns (Troopergate) as governor might lead to political, or even legal, trouble."
" BOTTOM LINE: Palin is strong on vision and rallying public support; she's not so strong on the detailed work of governance."
Interesting, what the paper sees as Sarah’s “limitations”
“She delegates much of the detail work and spends little time on second-tier subjects.”
“She has a fervent sense of what’s right and what’s wrong and has little concern for political consequences.”
“She had no sense of how continuing to push her concerns (Troopergate) as governor might lead to political, or even legal, trouble.”
“ BOTTOM LINE: Palin is strong on vision and rallying public support; she’s not so strong on the detailed work of governance.”

Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
Would you please change the title to read PALIN’S LEADERSHIP instead of Palint?
Thanks.
This is the definition of a CEO.
“Palin is the only major political figure in the past 20 years who regularly comes to Daily News editorial board meetings by herself, with no flunkies or handlers.”
This is simply LEGENDARY!!
Instead, she uses her charisma and a simple, clear vision to mobilize mass support for her agenda, then leaves the details and heavy lifting to others. This is what a true leader does.
And an extrovert, A personality type that is perfect for the tasks she has chosen.

I am worried about the declining population of Wassila. The first reports I read said it had a population of 9,000. Then other stories said 7,000. Now this one says 6,000. That’s a 33 percent decrease in one week. There’s something bad going on in that town.
Perhaps the drive-by media is sniping at the citizens of Wasilla with something besides their nasty mouths!
Reminds me of Reagan.
You are exactly right. As I read the article, I thought to myself, "They are describing somebody with the management style of a Ronald Reagan, and whining that they would prefer the management style of a Jimmy Carter." I don't think this is a concern that many of us will share.
Two great minds on the same track.
Thanks AM ;)
I believe the town was only 5500ish when she first took office but its much larger now.
Uh, sounds like leadership to me.
Leaders are supposed to choose subordinates they trust to do the job, and then leave them alone to do it.
The hardest part of a CEOs job is allowing his people to do their jobs. Like a football coach, a CEO is not allowed on the field. You can sit people on the bench and put new players in. Thats why leadership skills are so important. You need to get things done through the hard work of others.
The left has trouble understanding that.

Sarah sounds like a great "ORGANIZER" to me!
I was totally surprised at the article. D'ya think someone snuck in their editorial office and somehow got this into the paper? ;)
It seems life, for Obama and the dems, becomes human and thus is accorded Constitutional protections, is defined in their world as the following:
Life begins when the product of conception ceases to be an inconvenience and becomes desired or at least tolerated. It seems that omega point becomes after the baby is born because they (the dems) are more than happy to kill a 95% born baby, outside the birth canal but actively kept from delivery of the head. I have delivered many babies and the intrauterine manipulation of the cephalic presentation can become a difficult maneuver in a 9 month gestation. Most babies present head-first, though some are breach in presentation. Today most obstetricians will elect C-section rather than deliver the hips, and shoulders in a cervix not acted upon by a cephalic presentation which dilates the cervix. This is for fear of "hanging up" and loosing the child. It is also because the gravid uterus can tear and bleed profusely, putting the mothers life in danger as well as increasing the probablility of cord compression. Cord compression would not concern the abortionist because he is intent on killing anyway.
The cartoon, though characatured, is closer to the truth than many think.

The McClatchy Company owns all these dailies, I think they are biased.
One person can't do it all. That's why the cabinet and staff picks are so important. Cronyism, or competence.
If you run across a newspaper that isn't biased, please let me know...even though the WSJ's editorial page is pretty fair, most of their reporters are in the tank for the democrats.

What Rick asked him was, "At what point does a baby get human rights, in your view?" Rick didn't ask about a fetus, he asked about a baby, the name given a born infant! Obama changed the focus to create a confusion he assumed would give him wiggle room.
Obama's non-answer (he typically voted present in IL, not yes or no) of 'above his pay grade' followed an obfuscation of what Pastor Warren asked!
You see, Obama likely expected a question regarding his stance protecting the evil of killing infants born alive by neglecting them until they struggle and die. What Obama had been programmed to do was immediately misdirect the discussion away from his actual defense of this evil (three times in the IL legislature), to obfuscate over the supposedly more ambiguous question of when a conception becomes a human being!
Rick Warren asked the precisely correct question to expose Obama's history of opposing the Born Alive Infant Protection Act in IL. Obama had been programmed to change the question focus to the more nebulous question of when the newly conceived become 'functionally' human beings.
Democrat Party ghouls have been protecting their defense of slaughtering the alive unborn by diverting away from obvious truths that Americans can and will agree upon, to confuse the issues using this same diversion tactic. Obama knew he would be asked about his defense of this evil way to kill preemies and he instictively changed the question to address the pre-planned misdirection which has kept this evil in our midst.
Think of what Obama could ahve said to defend his opposition to a born alive infant protection act? He had no option but to change the focus, to try and confuse the issue, because he has defended the killing by neglect of terminating pregnancies! He has proven with his legislative work tyhat he doesn't believe a born infant should have human rights unless the female extends them to the child.
Obama does not agree with the concept of unalienable right to LIFE. Warren exposed this with his question and Obama did his usual shuffle switch to answer something he was programmed for not what was actaully asked.
And the DBM and democrats think this is just fine for a POTUS.
Sounds like every description of a CEO I ever heard. Also sounds like the reason CEOs are successful and paid the big bucks they earn.

Can you say Ronald Reagan?
My son lives in Anchorage and is somewhat liberal in his thinking (he voted for Nader once..). He said Palin is the best politician he’s seen and coming from him, that’s a compliment.
THAT IS WHAT AN EXECUTIVE DOES! I am constantly amazed at what the press doesn’t know.
They have no leaders, hence their collapse. Soviets are bad business models.
