Sen. Barack Obamas lead in national polls has shrunk to one point, according to CNNs latest poll of polls.
Sundays poll of polls shows Obama leading John McCain 44 to 43 percent.
Obama held a three-point lead in Saturdays poll of polls. The senator from Illinois was leading McCain 45-42 percent.
"All of the surveys included in our national polling average were conducted at least in part during the Republican Convention," noted CNN Senior Political Researcher Alan Silverleib. "It's still too early to know exactly how much of a bounce McCain has received. That said, the daily tracking numbers indicate that the [Sarah] Palin pick has clearly energized the GOP's base. We have an extremely tight race for the White House on our hands."
CNNs most recent poll of polls consists of three surveys: CBS (September 1-3), Gallup (September 4-6), and Diageo/Hotline (September 2-4). The poll of polls does not have a sampling error.

People from our side of the fence - and this *is* a sweeping statement, with obvious exceptions for individuals - tend to actually go out and vote more then our esteemed opponents do.
Part of the problem with courting the youth vote is that so many of them get all fired up about it and then don’t actually go out and vote!!!
I really think that liberals usually vote as a “feel good” thing, whereas conservatives vote based on a “call to duty”.
Maybe I’m wrong.

"Does anyone here think that Hillary & McCain would be tied at this point had she been nominated?"

Obama needs to be ahead by 15% the day before elction day
Why do you say that? I can believe 1 or 2 percent of the people lie to pollsters...but 15%? I doubt it. That last thing we need is for converatives to think we already have this thing won. We don't. And unless we are willing to expend at least as much energy as the left wing loonies on DU, we will not win.

"All of the surveys included in our national polling average were conducted at least in part during the Republican Convention,"
This statement nullifies any speculation regarding a "bounce." This poll report can't address the effect of events take took place at the RNC, since the polls occurred before the convention was completed.
It's bogus.

Someone should do a cartoon of McCain, dressed up like Teddy Roosevelt as a rough rider, but he’s saddled up on a large moose. SHE’s going to carry HIM to the White House. Unless the MSM somehow manages to take her down. On that score, I’m relying on faith.

"Obama needs to be ahead by 15% the day before elction day ..." I must respectfully disagree, and say "au contraire."
Obama comes from a political machine that long ago perfected the art of voter fraud.
McCain better have a nice cushion in early Nov.

I don't know Diageo/Hotline's record, but their
previous poll gave Obama a 9 point lead, 48 to 39, on 8/29-31. Maybe they undersampled Republicans.

The only reason Obama is ahead here is because one of the polls (Hotline) they are using has Obama up by 6, but was taken during the convention before the Palin effect took hold.

You have to get a “NOBAMA ZONE” sign for the front door.
That should stop them. If not, get some “NOBAMA SUPPORTERS WILL BE SHOT ON SIGHT” signs.
