Obama: Our 1st flake president?
WND ^ | September 09, 2008 | Les Kinsolving

Posted on 09/08/2008 10:19:52 PM PDT by Red Steel

I cannot recall anybody who ever categorized Hugh Downs as either an extremist or even a mild right-winger.

And this is why this now-retired American broadcaster, renowned TV host-producer and author of an electrifying column headlined "Obama will lose" should have received – but did not – front-page and prime-time coverage all over the U.S.

The following are highlights from a three and one-half page article:

* "Barack Obama will be defeated. Seriously and convincingly defeated. Not due to racism, not due to the forces of reaction, not even due to Karl Rove sending out mind rays over the national cable system. He will lose for one reason above all, one that has been overlooked in any analysis that I've yet seen. Barack Obama will lose because he is a flake. I'm using the term in its generally accepted sense. A flake is not only a screw-up, but someone who truly excels in making bizarre errors and creating incredibly convoluted disasters. A flake is a "fool with energy," as the Russian proverb puts it. ("A flake is a terrible thing to have around, but a fool with energy is a nightmare.")

* "(In Chicago) Jeremiah Wright's Trinity United Church has been turned inside out since the videotaped sermons appeared early this year, without anyone ever quite explaining exactly what Obama was thinking of when he joined up in the first place. Street cred, so it's claimed. But there are a plethora of black churches that would have provided him that, without the taint of demented racism that Wright's church offered. Obama apparently had to swear an oath of belief in "black liberation theology" when he joined the church. (It is the little touches of that sort that make it a "cult," and not simply a "church.")

Exactly...

How can ANYONE! attend a church for 20 Years and listen to the SAME Pastor and not know what the Pastor believes, and what the Church stands for?

He is asking us to Buy a Huge crock of Crap!

THAT,,,by itself,,,

shows that Hussein does not have the JUDGMENT, common sense, or discretion to be President!!!

Add in his friendship with an unrepentant TERRORIST....

that, too, shows he does NOT have the JUDGMENT to be President.

Indeed.

That’s one of the first things I do when look at a perspective church, ask what they stand for.

It’s amazing some of the whacked answers out there. Many pastors can’t even answer the question “What is the Gospel?”

Am I missing something?

The article WND links to is attributed to a “J.R. Dunn”.

J.R. Dunn = Hugh Downs?

I noticed that too. There’s a Hugh Downs ad next to the article on the American Thinker page, but as far as I can tell, that’s his only connection to it.

Les Kinsolving has made a major error in this article.

The article he is quoting was not written by Hugh Downs, but was written by J.R.Dunn!

There is an advertising for things Hugh Downs is sponsoring right below the title... but he is not the author.

Good article, but not by the icon of the US Media that Kinsolving seems to think.

This is pretty good.

We will be entering a twilight zone of smear against Palin/McCain in the next few days.

It is past time to look back at these existing Obama questions. They were never “vetted”, we just lost interest or felt guilty about asking them, but in the wake of Palin attacks, the nation no longer will give him that break.

I don’t know how Hugh Downs got wrapped up in this- the article cited as his is actually one by J.R. Dunn at The American Thinker:

A flake is not only a screw-up, but someone who truly excels in making bizarre errors and creating incredibly convoluted disasters. A flake is a "fool with energy," as the Russian proverb puts it.

Reminds me of a quote from some WWII German general. He said there 4 types of officers: 1) Those who were intelligent and hard-working were the most desirable, and should be promoted to staff officers. 2) Those who were intelligent and lazy often had the best ideas, and should be listened to. 3) Those who were stupid and lazy were no cause for worry. They did very little harm because everyone ignored them anyway, and worked around them. 4) But those who were stupid and hard-working were the most dangerous kind. They could do the most damage to the army. As soon as they were recognized, they must be transferred somewhere where they could do no harm.

Good article by JR Dunn. Not Hugh Downs.

I agree, Obama is a flake.

Whether Obama or McCain is elected, the final decision rests with the American voter and right now I wouldn’t bet on the outcome either way.

Folks - at the risk of over simplification.... let me say it clearly.

Obama is an undeniable black racist. His 20+ years being mentored by Rev. Wright proves that.

There is also better than an even chance that he is a closet Islamist. Rev. Wright was a Muslim before he became an America hating black racist "christian"...and I believe that was the primary reason Obama chose Wright's "church" to join.

""After many lectures like this, Obama decided to take a second look at Wright’s church. Older pastors warned him that Trinity was for “Buppies”–black urban professionals–and didn’t have enough street cred. But Wright was a former Muslim and black nationalist who had studied at Howard and Chicago, and Trinity’s guiding principles–what the church calls the “Black Value System”–included a “Disavowal of the Pursuit of Middleclassness.’”"

It is a fact Obama used drugs, including cocaine, and there are reports that he was involved in a Homosexual encounter with Larry Sinclair....

One can not look upon Obama without seeing the arrogant street wise Marxist thug - playing the politics of race, in a slightly more sophisticated style than Sharpton, Jackson or Farrakhan -- but not much more sophisticated.

“Obama learned his lesson, and confronted the next threat immediately, tackling The New Yorker cover with the avidity of a man having discovered zombies in the basement. A development that could have been defused with a chuckle and a quip (the customary method is for the politician to ask the cartoonist for the original) was allowed to explode into a major issue. The campaign’s relentless attacks on one of the oldest liberal magazines extant merely perplexed the country at large. After all, any Republican has had to endure far worse.”

more proof he’s a friggin narcissist. He didn’t care that it was satire from a liberal magazine. He can’t tolerate any perceived slight on his character.

This is a good observation. Obama like most liberals are fatally flawed especially for running for President in this nation. Obama is more fatally flawed than even John Kerry. It was bad enough the DNC tried to sell Kerry as a anti-War War hero. Kerry was lucky he ran against Bush at least he didn’t lose by the margin that Obama will. Obama just lacks substance , he is a liberal aparachik who has risen to the top of the Democrat ticket writing checks he can not fulfill.

Liberals still don’t get it but who would expect them? They haven’t figured out why they will always lose. The Democrats problem was not that they didn’t have a good enough speaker to present their liberal policies. A tax hike sounds not one bit better coming from a hip black guy than it did from a white guy married to a sugamomma. Obama would’ve gotten further just telling outright lies about his plans for his Presidency. Mark Warner in Virginia did that and won and now is ahead in the Senate race based upon the lie he is a moderate. Lying works but liberalism doesn’t. Obama is running as a liberal Senator selling liberalism,he tells people to keep their tires inflated to make up the price of gas difference at the pump. Senators don’t win for a reason. Saddleback was the first extremely clear example of why they don’t. Obama replied like a liberal Senator, John McCain responded like Reagan. Like a man speaking from his heart about issues he cares about.

"The chief characteristic of a flake is that he makes choices that are impossible to either understand or explain. These are not the errors of the poor dope who can't grasp the essentials of a situation, or the neurotic who ruins things out of compulsion, or the man suffering chronic bad luck. The flake has a genius for discovering solutions at perfect right angles to the ordinary world. It's as if he's the product of a totally different evolutionary chain, in a universe where the laws are slightly but distinctly at variance to ours. When given a choice between left and right, the flake goes up -- if not through the 8th dimension. And although there's plenty of rationalization, there's never a logical reason for any of it. After awhile, people stop asking."
