Rasmussen:Only 29% of Obama supporters think Supreme Court should decide cases based on Constitution

A friendly reminder from the Enlightened of how much more profound their respect for the rule of law is than yours, to be filed away for the next time one of them deigns to lecture you about Bush’s constitutional apostasy.

During his acceptance speech last night at the Republican National Convention in Minnesota, John McCain told the audience, “We believe in a strong defense, work, faith, service, a culture of life, personal responsibility, the rule of law, and judges who dispense justice impartially and don’t legislate from the bench.” Most American voters (60%) agrees and says the Supreme Court should make decisions based on what is written in the constitution, while 30% say rulings should be guided on the judge’s sense of fairness and justice. The number who agree with McCain is up from 55% in August.

While 82% of voters who support McCain believe the justices should rule on what is in the Constitution, just 29% of Barack Obama’s supporters agree. Just 11% of McCain supporters say judges should rule based on the judge’s sense of fairness, while nearly half (49%) of Obama supporters agree.

They are uneducated and/or un-American.

Lately they want us to follow the European “constitution.”

Wow...that is a serious indictment on Obama supporters. Maybe they should spend less time trying to show Johnny how to use a condom and shore up on their civics and government studies.

71% of Obama supporters believe cases should be decided by a permanently impaneled O.J. Jury.

How does a Constitutional Lawyer make a living without the Constitution?

Now I understand what a community organizer does!

Another example of the vast differences between conservatives and liberals. For the umpteenth time you Democrats. The Constitution is not a "living document". The Founding Fathers original intent was for the federal government to be limited and not to trample on the rights of the people. Conservatives respect the Constitution, liberals do not.

Most Lieberals have never read the U.S. Constitution. Obama's cult followers would like to establish a Cuban-style state in America. If Obam-uh is elected, they will create "hate speech" laws and imprison people who dare to express politically incorrect ideas. Leftists are traitors to the cause of freedom.

I happened to sit next to a middle-aged woman at a bar a few weeks ago and we struck up a conversation. She described herself as an artist. Without divulging my political persuasion I engaged her in a conversation about politics. It turns out she's a lib, which wasn't much of a surprise in light of her occupation.

She said two things that were striking. First, she said that the Constitution is not relevant anymore. Wow, I wonder how many of her fellow libs believe that. Pretty scary. Second, she said she hoped the price of gas increased to $10 per gallon. I asked her what she thought would be the first thing people would stop buying if they were paying $10 per gallon for gas and she said "Art?" as if that was something she hadn't thought of before. Duh! It also turned out that she was in this bar because she had just flown from Hawaii to Maryland to see her son. I asked her if she would have been able to afford to see her son if the flight cost double what she paid and she said no, again like that was something she hadn't thought of.

These people are ignorant beyond comprehension.

I have argued this ad infinitem with idiot libs (/oxymoron). If you are not going to interpret laws based on the written Constititution, then why even have it? Seriously, what need is there for the document if 5 out of 9 black-robed people can say that it means whatever is convenient for them at the time?

When the idiots say, "that's fine with me," I ask them, "So, will you also be fine when you have to obtain government approval to read The NY Times, or watch MSNBC?" Like clockwork, the jaws drop and there's a 5-watt glow in their eyes, almost like someone is home.

They'll always come back with, "but a document written 200 years ago isn't relevant anymore." To which I always respond, "so amend it, as provided in the document itself - it isn't carved in stone, you know." They always say, "but it is so hard or impossible to do that." "OK, now do you want to THINK about why that's the case - like, for instance, maybe not everyone agrees with you."

These idiots are all but hopeless - the only solution is to keep their candidate out of the White House, so at least there's a chance to get decent judges and Justices nominated.

First, she said that the Constitution is not relevant anymore.

I guess that means that Congress, the President, and the Supreme Court arent relevant anymore.

29% also think that we should follow Algore’s preachings as the high priest of the Glow Bull Warming - just not live the way he does!!

29% is about the approval rating of President Bush - yet the DBM claims that is an exceptionally low number. In this case, that 29% represents the percentage of total voters who are too stupid to cast a vote in any election.

Relying on a judge's sense of "fairness" is insane.

What if the judge decides it's "fair" to steal your property so that the government can have higher tax revenue?

Oops, already happened.

The most ironic thing about lefties and their ‘constitutional’ beliefs is that they are the first people to yowl about something being unconstitutional when they don’t actually believe the constitution means anything.

I personally prefer the term ‘lefties’ because classical liberals don’t deserve the maligning that liberal carries today. Also lefties don’t deserve to have their nickname associated with liberty.

But the 71% + 29% of 0-Bomb-uh supporters would probably have no problem if the Supremes followed a new Constution based on something 57 states put together [that's the 57 Islamic states].
