What would be the consequences if Obama tried to replace Biden with a woman?

I am not sure if intrading is trading on the Proposition that Obama drops Biden for Clinton or Sibelius, but what would be the political consequences if he were to attempt to do it?

Could he actually do it and get away with it?

In order to make it look half-way convincing, Biden would have to fall on his sword in some spectacular way, and Obama would “reluctantly” select another running mate. Only way it flies with the public. Could be done.

He could probably do it, but Biden would have to come up with either 1) a mystery ailment, or 2) a mega-scandel that would force him to resign. #1 probably works best with Biden's history, the positives of a sympathy play, and the lack of negatives of outright dropping him in favor of a woman.

Short of scenario 1 or 2, it would be absolute political suicide to just pull Biden in favor of a woman. While the MSM would fight to sweep it under the rug, McCain would have massive fodder to run on commercials on the indecisiveness and wrong decisions of Obama. Do you REALLY trust him to be President?

Now. What would the consequences be if Obiden tried to replace Obama at the top of the ticket with a woman. LOL!

No doubt it would be explained as based on some new information about Biden's health...the media would buy it, but the public maybe not. Picking Biden was the first quasi-presidential act for Obama, and it's not looking like such a wise decision. If the public knew Biden better, it would look even worse.

Putin would presumably prefer a Democrat in the White House, but his invasion of Georgia led Obama to pick Biden and that may help ensure McCain's victory.

Sure he could do it...and he would make McGovern look like a winner by the time the election was over. The only scenario I can envision would be if Biden were to have a serious accident or illness that would garner some sort of public sympathy that would carryover into the campaign with a new and healthy VP pick. And if Hillary is chosen, Obama would succumb to illness by Feb.2009.

I am scared that Biden’s head is going to explode on Oct 23nd during the debate.

I think it would be political suicide...

Still, he needs to do SOMETHING.

So maybe he could have Biden start wearing dresses and heels instead!

There's a very clear difference in the two candidates that might not have been evident a month ago. It's called Ego.

John McCain seems absolutely delighted that his crowds have swelled because of Sarah Palin. He's not completely full of himself. I guess getting the crap beaten out of you for five and a half years by the Cong does that to you.

On the other hand, Barry had to be the star of his own show, and he certainly didn't want to share any spotlight with the Toons. So he deliberately picked the second most boring man who ran against him (sorry, I gotta put Chris Doddering at the head of that list!)

Pride goeth before a fall.

In a just world, he would be accused of pandering. In a just world, he would be derided as a copycat.

However, he is the Messiah. He is the One. He is He Who Can Do No Wrong.

So McCain would be accused of copying Obama.

I remember hearing recently about a politician who was heard to ask in public, “I’m not indecisive, am I?”

I heard this speculation from a close friend today.
I personnally feel it’s an excellent idea and hope
with every fiber of my being that Obama does this
very thing.

He could away with it only by killing Biden.
After the Palin-Biden debate.

(Accidentally, of course.)

Hillary does NOT want to debate Sarah, so his death (er, medical leave to replace his cut off head) has to happen after that debate.

If something came up and he had a very good reason to replace Biden, (like a history of electric shock treatments) he could then probably get away with it. Elsewise, he’s stuck with Biden.
