OK, while I grew up in the cold north (NY) I have lived in the South since 1973. [ grace of God ] So I have a question for you true northerly FReepers.

Why does that jacket have eyelets for laces on the front?

Is that jacket really only an under-jacket for something much warmer?

And those gloves look like ‘dress up’ gloves to me.

Not that I mind at all, but it looks like Vogue dressed her to look good (easy to do) as opposed to snapping her pic in real cold weather garb.

I am ready to be informed.

The eyelets maybe be for hanging things like a whistle, bear spray, or a small sheathed knife.

The gloves look thick, and wonderfully warm.

oh, every inch of that outfit is designer. the grommets are most likely cosmetic and taken as an accent from a real warm-weather coat where it had function.

designers usually take pieces that have an actual function and mirror them in non-functional ways. it looks better, but the function is gone.

of course, i live in NYC but know little of fashion.
