You are right. Tribalism is a serious problem all over the African continent but why are Somalies so dogmatically, fundamentally Muslim here? A lot of Muslim groups actually denounce their interpretation of the Quran as extreme. They are the ones who refuse to transport people from the Minneapolis Airport if they are carrying alcohol, who insist on footbaths at the airport, who refuse to check grocery customers who are buying pork products, who refuse to have anything to do with dogs, even seeing eye dogs. I suspect that tribalism and Islam together have turned Somalia into the armpit it now is.

It can be strongly argued it is because they haven’t been here long enough to have the sharp edges rounded off. For instance, consider Catholics. Nancy Pelosi is arguing with the Archbishop about the dogma. Babtists no longer have total conniptions when Walmart sells Beer.
