Obama "Old Man" Ad Attacks McCain's War Disabilities
NRO - The Corner ^ | 12 September 2008 | Jonah Goldberg

Posted on 09/12/2008 4:01:22 PM PDT by PhatHead

The Obama campaign is mocking John McCain for not using a computer. From the AP story about the computer illiterate ad:

"Our economy wouldn't survive without the Internet, and cyber-security continues to represent one our most serious national security threats," [Obama spokesman Dan] Pfeiffer said. "It's extraordinary that someone who wants to be our president and our commander in chief doesn't know how to send an e-mail."
Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by "extraordinary." The reason he doesn't send email is that he can't use a keyboard because of the relentless beatings he received from the Viet Cong. From the Boston Globe (March 4, 2000):
McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.
In a similar vein I guess it's an outrage that the blind governor of New York David Patterson doesn't know how to drive a car. After all, transportation issues are pretty important. How dare he serve as governor while being ignorant of what it's like to navigate New York's highways.

Yes. McCain made a mistake by responding to the lipstick slap. This can get extraordinary exposure while he stays above the fray. This is a fat, hanging curveball that Obama just left over the plate.

This ad is colossally stupid.

They are so arrogant, they think they can just run out any old ad and no one is going to pay attention.

Even the LSM cannot ignore this one.

OMG.

I told my wife about Biden’s gaffe telling the handicapped pol to stand up for recognition. She finished the sentence for me.

I posted this on a related thread:

Even before learning this, I was stunned that nObama’s campaign was going down this path.

I know quite a few older women who struggle with or don’t use e-mail and computers. I think this ad will only push them towards McCain.

Dopes.

[Left - the 'fair' Michelle] UTTER HATE

[Right - the Obama! THE ONE!] UTTER ARROGANCE

I swear, that dweeb looks just like some of these third/forth world dictators (after just having successfully pulled of a rebel junta coup and coincidentally boiling and eating a Christian Missionary Nun - both looking disdainful because the wine they ate with their dinner had a cork instead of a screwcap).

...They really need to rake Obama over the coals on this somehow...

The ad they run should include the Boston Globe quote and end with Sarah saying "I'm Sarah Palin and I approve this message."

Dan Pfeiffer - Traveling Press Secretary

Former Communications Director for Sen. Evan Bayh's (D-IA) All America PAC, former Press Secretary to Sen. Bayh, Deputy Campaign Manager for Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle's (D-SD) unsuccessful re-election campaign in '04, staffer on Sen. Tim Johnson's (D-SD) successful '02 re-election campaign, Communications Director at the Democratic Governors Association.

Dan Pfeiffer: Another holdover from Team Daschle, Pfeiffer will be the traveling press secretary for Obama. Pfeiffer was communications director for Tim Johnson in 2002 and then deputy campaign manager for Daschle in 2004. Following that race, Pfeiffer signed on as communications director for Sen. Evan Bayh's (D-Ind.) presidential campaign-in-waiting. When Bayh dropped from the race late last year, Pfeiffer became a free agent.
