Many Versions of 'Bush Doctrine'
Palin's Confusion in Interview Understandable, Experts Say

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin seemed puzzled Thursday when ABC News anchor Charles Gibson asked her whether she agrees with the "Bush doctrine."
"In what respect, Charlie?" she replied.
Intentionally or not, the Republican vice presidential nominee was on to something. After a brief exchange, Gibson explained that he was referring to the idea -- enshrined in a September 2002 White House strategy document -- that the United States may act militarily to counter a perceived threat emerging in another country. But that is just one version of a purported Bush doctrine advanced over the past eight years.

As I understand it, the Bush Doctrine states:
1. American unilateralism - rejecting the ABM treaty and the Kyoto Accords, doing what’s right for America.
2. The War on Terror - any nation that supports or harbors terrorism is a hostile regime.
3. Pre-emptive war.
4. The fundamental mission of American foreign policy is to spread democracy throughout the world.
So Charlie, which one are you seeking an answer on? Are you sure?
I am shocked the Washington Post would publish this, and on page A1. Someone may lose their job over this.
Bump for study of the four doctrines.
The DUmmies heads are gonna explode when they see this.
It was Charles Gibson’s “confusion” not Palin’s.
Didn’t Dick Morris tell us that Bill Clinton created the original Bush doctrine?

Well, she “intentionally” asked Gibson “in what respect?” Give her some credit for knowing that the question couldn’t be answered as he asked it. Good grief
Seemed to me that Gibson was the one who sounded vague and Governor Palin did the right thing when she asked him “in what respect”.
All of this talk of The Bush Doctrine is timely because now Obama and Biden will learn what it is for their interviews.
Except the variety of the "Doctrine" Gibson cited was not congruent with the date he gave!
Gibson was trying to set up a game of GOTCHA. The essence of that game is to get a sucker to accept a false premise. Once that is done, then both the sucker and the truth lose.
But the media guy who can pull off a successful GOTCHA on McCain-Palin will be promoted to the next untouchable DanRather position at the top of the pecking order.
Obama and the media both have a need to play games like GOTCHA.

Bush Derangement Syndrome has morphed into Palin Derangement Syndrome.
Governor Palin can take W’s place, she just has to learn how to say, “Working hard doing the hard work of working hard. It’s hard work.”
The right answer:
“Charlie... Are you asking me about the first thing or the second thing, because if it is the first thing, then we have to talk about the second thing too, but if it is about the second thing, then we can’t discuss the second thing without discussing the first thing first. But if you want to know what I think about the third thing, well I don’t know if you have the clearance or the kahones to discuss the third thing with anyone. So, which is it Charlie? The first thing, the second, or the third thing?”
Can you even read? The entire article is about multiple meanings and how Gibson is the one that is deranged and delusional about his own understanding of Bush’s world view....
Confusion? She mearly asked Gibson to qualify the question as to provide a specific and meaningful answer. She wasn't confused at all. She was engaged and on top of Gibson so quick he appeared confused at her response for clarification.
Translated interview question and response:
Governor Palin: "In what respect?"
Gibson - noticably shaken :"Gah! I don't know that...Oh wait.."
So the ‘Gotcha moment’ wasn’t really a ‘Gotcha moment’. It was a dumb*ss question from a partisan reporter who was doing his best to make Sarah Palin look foolish.
Charlie and abc gave all their brethren liberals a heads up and yesterday some of them ran with it... but now they all have egg on their face.
They shouldn’t feel too bad, it could have been worse... They could have produced a funny campaign ad pointing out that McCain doesn’t use a computer or send emails, and then find out belatedly, that because of his war injuries John McCain can’t comb his hair, tie his shoes or TYPE ON A KEYBOARD.
Perhaps a lesson in reading comprehension...?
