The Palin-Whatshisname Ticket (Frank Rich: McCain is Palin's puppet)
NY Slimes ^

Posted on 09/13/2008 2:23:49 PM PDT by Chet 99

WITH all due deference to lipstick, let’s advance the story. A week ago the question was: Is Sarah Palin qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency? The question today: What kind of president would Sarah Palin be?

It’s an urgent matter, because if we’ve learned anything from the G.O.P. convention and its aftermath, it’s that the 2008 edition of John McCain is too weak to serve as America’s chief executive. This unmentionable truth, more than race, is now the real elephant in the room of this election.

No longer able to remember his principles any better than he can distinguish between Sunnis and Shia, McCain stands revealed as a guy who can be easily rolled by anyone who sells him a plan for “victory,” whether in Iraq or in Michigan. A McCain victory on Election Day will usher in a Palin presidency, with McCain serving as a transitional front man, an even weaker Bush to her Cheney.

The ambitious Palin and the ruthless forces she represents know it, too. You can almost see them smacking their lips in anticipation, whether they’re wearing lipstick or not.

-snip-

McCain’s conspicuous subservience to his younger running mate’s hard-right ideology and his dependence on her electioneering energy raise the question of who has the power in this relationship and who is in charge. A strong and independent woman or the older ward who would be bobbing in a golf cart without her? The more voters see that McCain will be the figurehead for a Palin presidency, the more they are likely to demand stepped-up vetting of the rigidly scripted heir apparent.

The more voters see that McCain will be the figurehead for a Palin presidency. . . .

Rich has lost it, if he ever had it.

Wait, what? That’s just stupid. That old guy is nobody’s puppet.

This is like “Apocalypse Now”...the BS piles up so high, you need bat wings to stay above it.

Didn’t you hear? Todd Palin is actually Karl Rove’s half-brother, separated at birth. So that Magnificent B@st@rd Rove is pulling the strings! Again!

What this blowhard sees as McCain’s “conspicuous subserviance” to his running mate will be viewed by those less prejudiced as evidence that John McCain is completely at ease with strong women (see: Cindy, also) and is not an egomaniac.

This dude has no idea what the PUMAs, for example, see in this pick. Not just Sarah, but exactly what he derides: the respect and ease of partnership with which a strong man in his 70’s is dealing with Sarah.

They see the diametric opposite of how Obambi treated a different strong woman, Hillary. They know it was not politics that kept Hillary off the ticket, but the fact that neither Obambi nor his Belle could see him respecting Hillary and entering an easy (comfortable) partnership with her.

It’s impressive, not a point of derision.

One week she’s a naive, inexperienced trophy veep. The next week she’s Queen Jezebel. Well, they’re desperate, I guess.

I tell my wife that Sarah Palin is my wife without a tan. She doesn't run on quite the same stage as Gov. Palin. But she's a pretty substantial woman--and a babe to boot. I don't pretend to be presidential material. But I do know that a weak man would have a hard time choosing a strong woman.

What does that tell us about Obama passing on HRC?

As Republicans know best, fear does work. If Obama is to convey just what’s at stake, he must slice through the campaign’s lipstick jungle and show Americans the real perils that lie around the bend.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Utopia is doomed.

Frank Rich is such a supercilious jerk.

Frank Rich ridiculed her last week as "unqualified." This week he writes Sarah will run America with McCain as her front man! The Left is really losing it when it can't keep its attack line straight. Deep panic is overtaking them!

It’s amusing when they get all puffed up with importance pontificating their latest earth-shattering idea.

You almost feel sorry for them, but they’re so stuck on stupid that they always do something mean to go along with stupid, and you realize you can’t let such dolts be in charge of anything.

I've not liked McCain from the beginning. His position on Global Warming and immigration bug me to no end. I'll admit it, I'm voting for Palin, and the other guy.

This is the next desperate attack: try to infuriate McCain by accusing him of being Palin's "puppet" so that he does something stupid.

I'm no McCain fan, but after he switched managers, this is the best-run national campaign (don't know about the grass-roots yet) that I've seen. Juan won't be falling for this.

So now, the lying scum liberals have MovedOn.Orgasm from painting Palin as a dingbat patsy, that should just “stifle it!”, to being a machiavellian mastetmind, manipulating the entire GOP, and leading all the MSM around their noses...

Sorta like the way they went from portraying President G.W. Bush, as a retarded monkey, to being an evil genius with a weather machine to direct hurricanes at black people....

The DemoKlan are so full of sh*t and lies. They are nothing but a Cult of Death.

The Road to Hell, is paved with Democrat intentions.

Frank Rich is afraid of a strong woman! And this is the way he wants the Democrats to attract back women voters? By insulting Sarah? Yeah, right! (laughing)

Chet,

Your questions are too hard for a shallow thinker of Frank Rich's ilk. Much too like Charlie Gibson. And if you whack edited Rich's answers, you could easily make him look like the idiot he is.

I hate to say it, but I took out loans to send my daughter to Trinity University in San Antonio. She got a good education, but her senior year, the school PAID SOME OF MY TUITION MONEY to bring this idiot to speak at a campus wide event. My daughter thought he was smart. Two years later, I'm still dissuading her of that.
