'We can either settle for the world as it is or ... we can fight ... for the world as it should be,' Michelle Obama said.
CINCINNATI - "I come here today as a Christian,'' Michelle Obama said yesterday to a standing ovation at a convention of mostly black Baptists. She appealed not only for their prayers but for their votes for her husband.
"This election is going to change the world,'' she said. "This election will determine the course of an entire generation. Just think about that.
"I know that no one here wants to look back and think, 'Wouldn't that have been great?'" she said. "I don't want to think about what might have been. I want to look back and think, 'We did it. We really did it, and we did it together.'''
The nonprofit National Baptist Convention USA Inc. is not permitted to endorse a candidate, but there was no doubt that the crowd of about 4,700 watching her speech in the convention center ballroom and in an overflow room receiving a video feed was firmly behind Sen. Barack Obama.

You wanna bet nothin' happens to their tax-exempt status?
And claims to be a Christian . . . after how many years at TUCC?
These people are as phony as it gets.
As a Christian, it boggles my mind how other Christians could vote for someone who supports live-birth abortion, or abortion, in general.
Mostly black Baptists, no doubt. Voting for their race is more important than ooting for the right to life. Well, there are Christians, and then there are christians.
Yup, right from her GLT meeting...
How can the National Baptist Convention USA Inc support the abortion candidate and still claim to be christians?
Obama phony Christian...good!
Palin real Christian...bad!
So Michelle, is electing Barack part of a Holy War?
Anyone who is in favor of homosexuality, abortion and Marxism (thus enslaving the population) ISN'T a Christian!
I used to attend an off shoot of Obama’s church here in Alabama. I was brand, spanking new Christian and I left that church when I realized that it was a false one.
It is not a Baptist group. It is a DNC front group that pimps for Obama.
I have yet to find one policy or position in the Obama campaign that backs this claim
"This election will determine the course of an entire generation. Just think about that.
Worse case scenario is Obama wins, country swings hard left. People actual realize Obama REALLY IS A FRAUD, throw his ass out next election cycle. Conservatism reassert itself as the wise and prudent position
Angels sing and clouds float by
I can understand the pride in Black Americans but many will not vote for a man who promotes abortion up to and even after birth.
These aren't real Baptists.
Michelle was dancing with Ellen!
“How can the National Baptist Convention USA Inc support the abortion candidate and still claim to be christians?
It is not a Baptist group. It is a DNC front group that pimps for Obama.”
Technically it is a Baptist group. And they aren’t just pimping Obama. This same bunch was all agog at Billy Clinton.
So how come the MSM doesn't label her as a religious fanatic, a zealot, a nut bent on sending women back to the stone age?
Faith in her hostility, nastiness and anti-Americanism, maybe?
3. So she wasn’t home getting her kids ready for school at 11:00 in the morning.
Anybody send this to Drudge yet?
I was going to say that most Baptists vote Republican, until I saw that it was a black Baptist church. Race is more important than one’s soul I reckon.
Yeah, they have been around awhile. But half their stories they link to on their front page are about Obama.
If elected, in four years time Obama would appoint a whole new generation of Judges as well as up to five justices to the Supreme Court. Life in this country would change for at least a generation. We must never forget, in a liberal world the courts legislate anything they can’t do directly.

Committee recommendation lifts up Christ as UCC's Lord and Sovereign
Written by Michelle Carter
Sunday, 03 July 2005
(UPDATE: ADOPTED BY FULL SYNOD ON MONDAY, JULY 4)
A consolidated proposal that would reaffirm both Jesus Christ as Lord and Sovereign and urge continued use of the UCC's tradition cross and crown logo will be the recommendation of a Synod committee. It suggests that two previously separate resolutions be combined into one Synod statement.
The Rev. Brent Becker of St. Paul UCC of Cibolo, Texas, was author of the original "Jesus is Lord" resolution.
"I just wanted to make it specific and explicit, to have people say, 'I do accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior.' What's the problem to reaffirm this? What's the harm?" he asked. "It's neither a conservative nor a liberal issue. Surely this is one thing we can all agree on."
The merged resolution, which still requires approval by Synod delegates, "celebrates and reaffirms our Church's faith in Jesus Christ, the head of the Church, whose true humanity and divinity are declared in our constitution, our liturgies, our hymnals and our ecumenical commitments."
The committee specifically omitted a doctrinal requirement that all authorized ministers and churches "must adhere to this most basic of all Christian teachings."
Several committee members expressed concern that such a requirement would establish a sort of litmus test for issuing privilege of call to clergy, a responsibility that, according to the UCC's polity, now rests with individual Associations, not the national church.
As for the UCC's cross, crown and orb logo, the committee will ask General Synod delegates to "strongly commend its continued use."

Worst case scenario continued:
Nobama sits in Oval office for 4 years, reviewing very sensitive intelligence documents and telling our enemies
the source and contents of what intelligence we have.
She wants to *change* the world. She and Obama do not give their kids Christmas or birthday presents, he does not like ice cream, they don’t have pets, he has never reached across the aisle, he hangs with left wing terrorists and America-haters, on and on...Is that what WE want to fight for. Their idea of “change”? I don’t think so. She and Boma are as big of Grifters as Hil and Bill ever were.
Buy a dozen copies of Corsi’s book and loan them to anyone who will read even parts of it.
So how come the MSM doesn’t label her as a religious fanatic, a zealot, a nut bent on sending women back to the stone age?
“The World As It Should Be.”-code for Saul Alinsky radicals.
Just like all good Muslims. (Oops, sorry, we're not supposed to suggest the obvious.)
Brought to you by the Baby Killing Party...
Actually, it prolly should be “inatspecial” - a quote from the original “church lady” that I presume Michelle was trying to be here...
The Obamas are a sick, twisted bunch.
They won't spend money on their children's presents, but they have no problems at all giving their money to a HOSTILE black racist organization that masquerades as a "church."
It’s a Southern thing. Let me translate: Isn’t that precious?
It’s a very versatile phrase that can be used sincerely or derisively. It all depends on how you say it. In this case, it’s very effectively derisive.
I wonder if there was a sudden thunderclap or a lightning strike nearby after she uttered this statement.
Black baptists have been voting for WHITE democrats for years. It doesn’t boil down to race. Obama being half black and visually brown is the icing on the cake.
It just occurred to me that Obama’s unwed mother was “punished” when she became pregnant with him. How ironic.
Never in my entire life, have I met a Christian, who carries an image of the Hindu “Monkey god” in his pocket for good luck. Obama says he does, and he was going to get a gold plated “Monkey god” the day before the Democratic Convention.
Did Barry say an “Allahu Akbar!” via satellite?
. . .as a Christian. . .Give me a break!
Muslims do not recognize birthdays. Obama is not American in his thinking.
Are Ohio Baptists now in to killing ones own offspring?
Any person or faith that can support a person like Obama is fake.
Do they meet secretly - or maybe ‘underground’ with Muslims? When she hangs with Louis Farrakhan’s wife; is she a ‘Christian’? Is Black Liberation Theology ‘Christian’. . .or Marxism with it’s own messiah?
I hate to say it but I disagree ricks. It seems that abortion is a big blind spot for church going blacks. A few months ago I went to my sister’s church and was reading a newsletter that was put out. It was pumping up Obama and trashing all Republicans. Abortion didn’t even factor. If Barack had run a clean campaign and wasn’t such a racist, marxist and proponent of infanticide I would feel pride but I can’t. I’m not proud of the jailed drug dealers and murderers who share my skin color so why should I feel pride for Obama.
