The United Church of Christ is not to be confused with the "independent Churches of Christ/Christian Churches" which are a conservative, evangelical group of churches having a history entirely separate from that of the UCC.

Interesting choice for Barak Obama. His wife is at the National Baptist convention in Cincinnati this weekend. I'm sure there were plenty of NBC's in Chicago to join...and they aren't gay churches now or 20 years ago when Obama joined his UCC.

Obama’s church was “TRINITY UCC”, a different denomination entirely. They are into black liberation theology. Although they probably have more than their fair share of gay guys, I don’t think Rev. Wright was into making that stuff public.

The UCC stands for United Church of Christ.

The “Trinity” is just a local congregational name.

Wiki is the ONLY spot that claims TUCC has an actual affiliation with UCC.

My understanding is that this is a completely independent church with no ministerial or other affiliations outside the congregation.

For them it's just a name ~ a word.

It is not the only spot.

The UCC is a denomination. They wouldn’t permit their trademark to be violated.

Beside, liberation theology is right down their alley.

Trinity UCC is considered one of the largest churches in their denomination.
