Media watchers are well-aware that it's not only words that can be used to spread propaganda, but oftentimes it's the pictures involved in the articles.
For months, people around the country have been noticing the always flattering photos of Barack Obama, and, by contrast, pictures that make John McCain either look older than what he is, or sickly...or even worse.
On Friday, the photography website PDNPulse published a virtual exposé about a professional photographer that admitted taking an intentionally diabolical looking picture of McCain that she hoped would be on the cover of October's Atlantic magazine (emphasis added throughout, photo courtesy The Atlantic, h/t NB reader Drew Hallowell):
When The Atlantic called Jill Greenberg, a committed Democrat, to shoot a portrait of John McCain for its October cover, she rubbed her hands with glee.
She delivered the image the magazine asked fora shot that makes the Republican presidential nominee look heroic. Greenberg is well known for her highly retouched images of bears and crying babies. But she didnt bother to do much retouching on her McCain images. I left his eyes red and his skin looking bad, she says.

That’s the best they can do? He looks powerful, serious and formidable. Like he’s willing to be your friend, but could also rip Vladimir Putin’s throat out with his bare teeth.
I'm surprised someone didn't draw a mustache on him and a black eye - like little kids do to be funny.
Personally, I like the New Yorker rag that had Michele and the Obomination for what they really are. Their attempt to poke fun at what is REALLY true, backfired - big time. It illustrated what intelligent people are thinking or at least wondering about.
...Your diagram of the Liberal Democrat Brain is priceless.
I think he looks pretty good in the pix. Headline is stupid though.
Pooty Pute (other others) needs to look at this cover and then decide if he wants to screw with us.
The picture she wanted the Atlantic to use makes me think of Alfred Hitchcock.
Now compare that picture of a real commander in chief to Barry the Man Child.
what is sick piece of trash she is.
does anyone know where that rumor started about calling his wife a c**t?
my mother is going around repeating this (among other garbage about mccain and palin she is spewing.
i would like to be able to throw the rumor and it’s source right back at her. (she’s my mother, but she is a liberal, codepink, obama kook, and she votes)
This photo looks like she spent about a half hour too much on it when she really wanted to spend two hours "retouching" her truth into the image. 99% of "news" is not. And that makes it fiction.

My thoughts exactly! An old LIFE mag cover from the 1960’s comes to mind.
He looks chiseled enough for Mr. Rushmore. I don’t want a president who looks like Brad Pitt.
They'll keep telling their lies, hoping voters will believe them for another 52 days. They're pulling out all the stops this time. No lie is too big, no hypocrisy too outrageous, no disrespect for honest middle Americans too elitist and cynical. If they lose this one McCain appointees to the Supreme Court will fix it so they can't impose totalitarian rule on the rest of us. And we must see that they lose.
Sorry, I borrowed your “moustache” line on my Feedback to Atlantic.
I have just learned about the real story behind your October cover photo of John McCain.

What on earth is with you simpleminded childish media people? Did Atlantic know and approve the slanted shoot that Jill Greenberg intended?
It seems the worse your Obama does in the polls the nuttier you get! What next paint McCain with a moustache?
Bad little girls and boys, now go stand in the corner for the rest of Class.
You’re obviously not related to Karl. :)
Good rant and dittos to you.
But what’s with that cheek? Looks like he has a tooth about to go completely septic...
Gee wonder why Jill Greenburg proudly calls her site: The Manipulator?
Thers is a more sinister McCain portrait complete with spooky shadows. She does Clint Eastwood no favors either
And we should be surprised, why?
I left her a comment which can be construed any which way. Keep it up lefties. Dig the hole deeper.
During tonights 60’s music telethon on PBS (to raise money for PBS coffers), Vicki Lawrence from the old “Carol Burnett” TV show appeared as her character from “Mama’s Family.”
While in character, she urged people to send in money for PBS, and as her face went off camera, she quickly came back in front of the lense and wispered,
“You can put lipstick on a jerk, it’s still a jerk.”
I wanted to smash the TV.
Obama photos are shot as if he's some religious icon come down from the clouds to deliver us!
I thought his cheek had something to do with the Vietcong or his bout with skin cancer, but I’m not 100% sure.

Well, she could have been referring to 0bama...or Charlie Gibson....or any other man who has had the appearance of being sexist lately....or even all of them!
My sister thought Vicki Lawrence was referring to Obama but, being suspicious of Hollywood types to begin with, I thought it was a slam against Gov. Palin.
I know that feeling. I had flipped passed the golf channel and some commentator picked on a woman, perhaps a player, for know "Sarah" but not Joe Biden! He sneered to his cohost, "Do you think she's a Republican?"
I notice a lot of this sort of thing online where it doesn't matter how far afield the article topic is, it will contain at least one gushing remark about Obama and two caustic, snide remarks about McCain or Palin. I grit my teeth. Sometimes I complain, but often I'm overwhelmed how far beyond the pale they will go and can only just shake my head and walk away in exasperation.
Looks like she scrubbed her website. All of the outrageous photos are gone.
Yet another 3AM phone call.
You did what? Get those pictures off the web or you'll never work in this town again.
Too late. bama's demented followers have done it to him again.
How nice of her to provide visual aids that so vividly illustrate the MSM’s warped leftist bias.
The left is in quicksand, the harder they struggle the deeper they sink.
I just went to the site and they’re still there.
I think a lot of liberals like Greenberg could actually be reasonable, clear headed people once they hit puberty.
The problem is they never reach that point.
They are EMOTIONALLY stunted. Physically they look like adults when they are still children.
That explains why porn is such a big business ...
