Website: Croatia Has Sold S300 To Iran

Croatia has recently sold advanced S-300 air defense missile systems to Iran, a newspaper in Zagreb reported this week amid conflicting opinions in Israel over whether Teheran has obtained the advanced anti-aircraft system.

According to the Web magazine Necenzurirano, Libyan Naval ships were also docking in the Croatian port city of Kraljevica to transfer the system to Iran.

Israeli defense officials could not confirm the report but said that Croatia is known to have obtained a number of S-300 systems following the collapse of the Soviet Union. The system was reportedly dismantled several years ago although its exact fate was never publicized.

The S-300, a Russian system, is one of the most advanced multi-target anti-aircraft missile systems in the world today and has a reported ability to track up to 100 targets simultaneously while engaging up to 12 at the same time. It has a range of about 200 kilometers and can hit targets at altitudes of 27,000 meters.

I regret that I must ask you to explain how you were involved in the Croatia-Iran arrangement. Are you implying that you were one of Ambassador Galbraith/Bill Clinton stooges?

"Aside from Slovenia there isn’t a Balkan state worth spit."

And Slovenia is, unfortunately, just Germany's stooge.

General Gotovina never spent a single day in South America - it’s all lies and innuendo in terms of why and what he was imagined to have done there (right?).

Melchior was alluding to the Ustasha. Gotovina wasn’t a part of the Ustasha emigration to South America. Gotovina’s time in South America had to do with being a part of the French Foreign Legion...similar to how Milorad Ulemek, the man who planned the assassination of Djindjic and who was Arkan’s right hand man in the Tigers, served worldwide.

Slovenia is Alpine, not Balkan.

The S-300 is an air defense system. Air defense systems are regarded as defensive weapons. So much so that the exportering country doesn’t have to legally announce it on the U.N. Arms Register.

You are thinking about the likes of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MCTR). That is to do with ballistic offensive weapons and cruise missiles.

The S-300 system can be legally sold to whoever wants it. Russia has sold S-300s to the likes of China, Vietnam and Greece. It has also offered S-400s to Turkey to fulfil its SAM requirements.

The newspaper article is simpy very poor journalism. Croatia is not going to through away its NATO/Partnership for Peace future on such a stupid move. The story falls apart with the claims of Libyian naval ships. Libya rolled over to the west after Iraq was invaded. Western defense manufacturers are lining up to re-equip Libya with western arms. Even Libya isn’t daft enough in assisting Iran obtain weapons.

Again a lot of hype. It was the likes of Debka that gave Syria an advanced air defense system. The Israelis skirted and used Turkish airspace to strike an undefended target in the Syrian desert. The Syrians took the gamble in not bringing attention to the site by not deploying SAMs around it. They gambled and lost. It was poor media such as Debka that gave Syria advanced Russian air defense systems.
