When the federal government announced two months ago that it would prop up mortgage buyers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, CRP looked at how much money members of Congress had collected since 1989 from the companies. On Sunday the government completely took over the two government-sponsored enterprises, and we've returned to our data to bring you the updates, this time providing a list of all 354 lawmakers who have gotten money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (in July we posted the top 25). These totals are based on data released electronically from the FEC on Sept. 2 and include contributions to lawmakers' leadership PACs and candidate committees from the floundering companies' PACs and employees. Current members of Congress have received a total of $4.8 million from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, with Democrats collecting 57 percent of that. This week we also wrote about how much money lawmakers had invested of their own money in the companies last year--a total of up to $1.7 million.

Maybe the FINE senator Obama Hussein will give his money back, now that he collected 66 million this month. It would be a safe gesture.
I would pay more attention to the PAC’s donations. They are from the company( I think). The individual donations from employees are less of a concern to me.
The first question is how much from individuals and how much from Pacs. Obama got mostly from individuals while McCain got all of his from individuals 20,000 vs. 120,000)
The second question is when the $ came in. We can’t tell but what we can say is in 19 years McCain has taken 1/6 the amount that Obama has in, at the most, four years. That seems to indicate that Obama was the choice for those in the know that the ship was very well sinking.
Back in July these results were posted collecting data through June 30, 2008:
Top Recipients of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
Campaign Contributions, 1989-2008
Name - Office - Party/State - Total
1. Dodd, Christopher J S D-CT $133,900
2. Kerry, John S D-MA $111,000
3. Obama, Barack S D-IL $105,849
http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/07/top-senate-recipients-of-fanni.html
The data from the original post was collected through September 2, 2008.
So, as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's financial position worsened through July and August, Obama collected an additional $20,000 in contributions.
Obama was Freddie and Fannie's go-to-guy in the Senate.
No doubt about that.
How are these quasi government financial entities able to give political contributions? Clearly the Federal Reserve doesn’t make political contributions why should Freddie and Fannie be any different?
From lobbyists? Isn't Hussein the agent of 'change' to get rid of these evil people?
Let’s remember that these are totals over TWENTY years combined and yet Obama managed to rise to #2 on the list in less than FOUR years (if I am understanding this document correctly).
Thus, Obama must be gorging on contributions at a far higher rate than ANYONE else on this list. Chris Dodd took 20 years to get to his total that is not that much higher than Obama’s < 4 year total!! Obama actually passed John Kerry despite being such a rookie senator in his first term.
Why were Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac so devoted to Obama even before he became the nominee?
FANNIE-GATE!
